TextID, an innovative take on the medical identification bracelet, makes medical information, medications, and emergency contact information immediately available in an emergency using the speed, efficiency, and convenience of a text message. TextID is a brand owned by Medical ID Marketplace, A Hope Paige Company (in partnership with ICEdot, powered by the American Ambulance Association). Each TextID product comes with a pre-engraved, unique PIN which the user uses to create a secure, web-based profile that can be changed or updated at any time from any computer, smartphone or tablet.
A medical identification tag is a small emblem or tag worn on a bracelet, neck chain, or on the clothing bearing a message that the wearer has an important medical condition that might require immediate attention. The tag is often made out of stainless steel or sterling silver. The intention is to alert a paramedic, physician, emergency department personnel or other first responders of the condition even if the wearer is not conscious enough, old enough, or too injured to explain. A wallet card with the same information may be used instead of or along with a tag, and a stick-on medical ID tag may be added or used alone.
The American Ambulance Association (AAA) is a trade association for the EMS industry. The AAA is based in McLean, Virginia and was founded in 1979.
Once the user receives his TextID item with a unique PIN, he activates it using this PIN and creates a secure profile, including medical history, current medical conditions, medications, "ICE" (in case of emergency) message, physician names and phone numbers, insurance information, and up to 10 emergency contacts.
In an emergency, the user's PIN can be texted to 5-10-20 in the United States (text to +1-918-373-9989 in Canada) by a first responder or good Samaritan. Within seconds, a text response is received which includes the "ICE" message, a link to the user's web-based profile, and prompt for the first responder to text "A" for allergy information, "M" for medication information, or "N" to notify emergency contacts. Emergency contacts (up to 10) can be contacted by text, email, or phone message.

It uses standardized communication protocols to enable mobile devices to exchange short text messages. An intermediary service can facilitate a text-to-voice conversion to be sent to landlines. A pager is a wireless telecommunications device that receives and displays alphanumeric or voice messages. One-way pagers can only receive messages, while response pagers and two-way pagers can also acknowledge, reply to, and originate messages using an internal transmitter.
In Case of Emergency (ICE) is a program that enables first responders, such as paramedics, firefighters, and police officers, as well as hospital personnel, to contact the next of kin of the owner of a mobile phone to obtain important medical or support information. The phone entry should supplement or complement written information or indicators. The programme was conceived in the mid-2000s and promoted by British paramedic Bob Brotchie in May 2005. It encourages people to enter emergency contacts in their mobile phone address book under the name "ICE". Alternatively, a person can list multiple emergency contacts as "ICE1", "ICE2", etc. The popularity of the program has spread across Europe and Australia, and it has started to grow into North America.

PicDial is a mobile service created by IQzone Inc. and based in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States. PicDial provides users with the ability to automatically see their friends' Facebook and MySpace profile pictures and status messages as Full Screen Caller ID on their mobile phone. The software automatically keeps contacts social networking information current, allowing the most recent profile pictures and status messages to be displayed on incoming and outgoing calls or texts. The PicDial application provides users with a "Favorites Screen," a visual grid that allows users to call or text by selecting a friends social networking profile picture. This Mobile social address book platform allows users to link multiple social networks. The application also enables users to determine which picture will display when a call or text is made to a PicDial friend, giving the user control over the picture seen by friends. This defined picture can either be taken from the users camera on the phone, or pulled from their profile pictures on Facebook or MySpace. When a user changes their picture, this new image will be updated to their friends' phones.
VITAband is a silicone encircling strip worn on the wrist. It can be referred to a bracelet-like band of a wristwatch, to the cuff or other part of a sleeve that covers the wrist. It is a lightweight, waterproof and hypoallergenic flexible wristband that is used when jogging, running, cycling or hiking, or when carrying a wallet is inconvenient. VITAband holds emergency medical information and Visa RFID credit card information. The wristband has two unique features. It comprises an integrated Visa Debit card with payWave wireless functionality and a toll-free phone number with unique identity code that can be used by EMTs to retrieve health information and contacts in case of an accident or health emergency.
An emergency communication system (ECS) is any system that is organized for the primary purpose of supporting one-way and two-way communication of emergency information between both individuals and groups of individuals. These systems are commonly designed to convey information over multiple types of devices, from signal lights to text messaging to live, streaming video, forming a unified communication system intended to optimize communications during emergencies. Contrary to emergency notification systems, which generally deliver emergency information in one direction, emergency communication systems are typically capable of both initiating and receiving information between multiple parties. These systems are often made up of both input devices, sensors, and output/communication devices. Therefore, the origination of information can occur from a variety of sources and locations, from which the system will disseminate that information to one or more target audiences.

ePACT Network is an online emergency network. Users build networks of family, friends, and organizations, store and exchange information and access web and mobile communication tools for use in a crisis. ePACT is built by ePACT Network Ltd., a technology start-up located in North Vancouver, BC, Canada. The company is a recent graduate of Vancouver tech accelerator, GrowLab, a participant in the Canadian Technology Accelerator, TechWomen and 48Hrs in the Valley programs in San Francisco, and has been recognized as one of ‘2013’s ICT Emerging Rockets’ by Ready to Rocket, a business recognition program for BC’s tech sector.
CitizenCOP is a mobile application, developed by the INFOCRATS Web Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and published in October 2012 as freeware. It is developed with the concept to leverage growing use of smart phones for safety of citizens and promote a crime free environment by encouraging voluntary anonymous crime reporting. CitizenCOP app is currently operating in co-ordination of police departments of Bhopal, Indore, Jhansi, Raipur, Noida, Bengaluru and Navi Mumbai. In Raipur, Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh presided over the launch of CitizenCOP app. For cities where CitizenCOP does not have police association, lite version of the application is working.
