Thai Sky Airlines Co., Ltd was a short-lived charter airline based in Thailand, with head office in the Le Concorde Tower in Huai Khwang District, Bangkok. [1] [2] The airline ceased operations in 2006.
Plans for purchasing of aircraft and setting up of airport operations started in 2002 and the airline was officially established on 30 January 2004. The first flight to Hong Kong was launched on 19 May 2005. Flights to Kuala Lumpur were launched on 21 May 2005. It is a joint venture with Thai, Hong Kong and Taiwan interests, and was set up primarily to operate charter flights for tour groups travelling from Hong Kong to Thailand. The airline ceased operations in 2006.
At its peak, the Thai Sky Airlines fleet included [3] three Lockheed L-1011 Tristar jets. One of the few airlines still flying the plane, it had two L-1011s for passenger service and one for cargo. However, all three were parked in August 2006 for lack of spare parts, and were cancelled from the Thai register on October 6, 2006. The airline also flew the converted Boeing 747-206BM(SUD) [4] [5] between 2005 and 2006 [6] for passenger flights.
In October 2006, Thai Sky leased a McDonnell Douglas MD-82 from Khors Air [7] as a replacement. However, the aircraft was soon repossessed, leaving the airline with no planes.

The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar is an American medium-to-long-range, wide-body trijet airliner built by the Lockheed Corporation. It was the third wide-body airliner to enter commercial operations, after the Boeing 747 and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10. The airliner has a seating capacity of up to 400 passengers and a range of over 4,000 nautical miles. Its trijet configuration has three Rolls-Royce RB211 engines with one engine under each wing, along with a third engine center-mounted with an S-duct air inlet embedded in the tail and the upper fuselage. The aircraft has an autoland capability, an automated descent control system, and available lower deck galley and lounge facilities.

The Boeing 747-400 is a large, long-range wide-body airliner produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes, an advanced variant of the initial Boeing 747. The "Advanced Series 300" was announced at the September 1984 Farnborough Airshow, targeting a 10% cost reduction with more efficient engines and 1,000 nautical miles [nmi] of additional range. Northwest Airlines became the first customer with an order for 10 aircraft on October 22, 1985. The first 747-400 was rolled out on January 26, 1988, and made its maiden flight on April 29, 1988. Type certification was received on January 9, 1989, and it entered service with NWA on February 9, 1989.
Orient Thai Airlines Co., Ltd. was an airline with its head office in Khlong Toei, Bangkok, Thailand. It operated charter and scheduled services in Southeast Asia and was based at Don Mueang International Airport. On 9 October 2018, the airline ceased all operations.

The airline was an international scheduled carrier before it shifted its focus to the ACMI/wet lease market.
Combi aircraft in commercial aviation are aircraft that can be used to carry either passengers as an airliner, or cargo as a freighter, and may have a partition in the aircraft cabin to allow both uses at the same time in a mixed passenger/freight combination. The name combi comes from the word combination. The concept originated in railroading with the combine car, a passenger car that contains a separate compartment for mail or baggage.

Pan Am requested a 747-100 derivative to fly between New York and the Middle East, a request also shared by Iran Air, and the first order came from Pan Am in 1973.

China Airlines Flight 334 was a Boeing 747-2R7F/SCD freighter aircraft that was hijacked by pilot Wang Hsi-chueh, a former military U-2 pilot, on May 3, 1986, while en route to Don Mueang, Thailand. Wang had left family members behind in China when he left for Taiwan in 1949 and had met some of them in Hong Kong in 1984. He decided to defect in order to reunite with his family in China. Wang managed to subdue the two other crew members and changed course to land the 747 in Guangzhou, where he defected to the People's Republic of China. The incident forced the Chiang Ching-kuo government in Taiwan to reverse its Three Noes policy in regard to contacting the communist government in mainland China, and Chiang dispatched several delegates to Hong Kong to negotiate with mainland officials for the return of the aircraft and crew. The incident was credited as a catalyst in renewing cross-strait relations between mainland China and Taiwan.
