The fifth and final season of The Masked Singer Australia was announced in February 2023 [1] and premiered on Network 10 on 11 September 2023. [2]

The fifth series was filmed with a live audience between 13 June and 3 July 2023. [3]

Production

The costumes were designed and created by Australian Academy Award and BAFTA Award-Winning costume designer Tim Chappel, who is best known for his work on The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert with Lizzy Gardiner. [4]

Panellists and host

Comedian Dave Hughes, British singer-songwriter Mel B, TV personality Abbie Chatfield and radio personality Chrissie Swan returned to the judging panel from the previous season. [5] Hughes is the only remaining original panellist. Osher Günsberg returned as host.

Contestants

Before the season began, Network Ten revealed that the cast included a Hollywood heartthrob, a Grammy Award-winning international singer, a singer with almost 25 million albums sold, a singer with more than 1 million records sold, a performer with more than a billion streams, a reality TV star and a sportstar. [6] The cast were also revealed to have amassed a combined 20 ARIA Awards and hold multiple platinum and gold-certified records.

The Wild Card twist from the previous season returned, with three "Wild Card" contestants to enter and perform later in the competition. [7]

The first season of The Masked Singer Australia premiered on Monday 23 September 2019 on Network 10 and is hosted by Osher Günsberg. In the Grand Finale on 21 October 2019, it was announced that the winner was Cody Simpson, the runner-up Rob Mills, and the third place finisher was Gorgi Coghlan.

The twelfth series of the Australian cooking game show MasterChef Australia, also known as MasterChef: Back to Win and MasterChef Australia: Back To Win, premiered on 13 April 2020 on Network 10. It is the first series to feature series four winner Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo serving as judges, after the departure of Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston in the previous season. The third season of The Masked Singer Australia was renewed in October 2020 and premiered on Monday, 13 September 2021. Osher Günsberg returned as the show's host. In the Grand Finale on 5 October 2021, Anastacia was revealed as the winner, Em Rusciano was the runner-up, and Axle Whitehead, was third.

The Amazing Race Australia 6 is the sixth season of The Amazing Race Australia, an Australian reality competition show based on the American series The Amazing Race and the third instalment of Network 10's iteration of the show. The fourth season of The Masked Singer Australia was announced in October 2021 and premiered on Network 10 on 7 August 2022. In the Grand Finale on 28 August 2022, The winner was revealed to be Melody Thornton as “Mirrorball”, the runner-up was Sheldon Riley as “Snapdragon”, and third place was Hugh Sheridan as “Rooster”.

The Traitors is an Australian reality television series broadcast on Network 10, based on the Dutch series De Verraders, which premiered on 16 October 2022.
