The Next Star currently known as Sing and Win Contest [2] and Naija Star Search [3] is a music award collective competition in Nigeria established for emerging singers and music performers. [4] [5]

History

Since 2022, the Contest was made for online competitions and auditions [6] [7] performed by emerging musicians through a platform accessible to anyone for voting for his/her favourite contestant. [8] [9] The music award also has a subsidiary for emerging child singers and music performers known as The Next Child Star. [10] It was established alongside its parent company The Next Star. [11] [12]

Naija Star Search also called The Next Star or Nigeria Star Search established for emerging singers and music performers, [3] [13] is hosted by VJ Adams. [14] It is presented by coaches, ID Cabasa, Kenny Ogungbe, Asha Gangali and more. [15] [16] The TV show is on a collaboration with Kennis Music Records and it airs on StarTimes Nigeria. [17] [8] Consisting of two seasons, the competition is open for artists above 18 year old. [18] The seasons 1 of The Naija Star Search was made up of 17 contestants. [19] [20] 'Skimzo' emerged the winner of the show. [21] In 2024, Cobhams, Vector & Sasha P were announced as the judges for Season 2 of Naija Star Search. [22] [23] On-air personality, Do2tun also invited young artists to join the contest through social media. [24] [25]

The Next Titan is a Nigerian entrepreneurial reality TV show, the foremost in Nigeria and currently in its 9th season. The show has hosted several thousands of young entrepreneurs across the country through its regional auditions. Aside from Season 8 when its auditions were held in six cities, the remaining seasons including Season 9 followed the format of four audition cities.

He was formerly signed to Chocolate City, a member of Warner Music Group independent label services ADA. His international hit single "Love Nwantiti", also known as "Love Nwantiti ", was released in 2019 by Chocolate City. On 29 March 2022, the song debuted at number one, following the launch of the Billboard Afrobeats chart. On 9 May 2022, it became the first-ever African song to surpass one billion streams on Spotify and has since been deemed "the biggest hit in African history".

Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, known professionally as Oxlade, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter signed to Troniq Music, Epic Records in France, and Columbia Records in the UK. He rose to prominence with the release of the song "Away", which appeared on Rolling Stone's 50 best songs of 2020. Oxlade was named the first Pandora Africa's Next Artist in July 2022.

In 2021, he released his debut EP, Pandemic. In 2024, he exit Jonzing World to start his imprint, which he calls 'Blown Boy Entertainment'.
