Yangon, formerly romanized as Rangoon, is the capital of the Yangon Region and the largest city of Myanmar. Yangon served as the capital of Myanmar until 2006, when the military government relocated the administrative functions to the purpose-built capital city of Naypyidaw in north central Myanmar. With over five million people, Yangon is Myanmar's most populous city and its most important commercial centre.
Naypyidaw, officially romanized Nay Pyi Taw, is the capital and third-largest city of Myanmar. The city is located at the centre of the Naypyidaw Union Territory. It is unusual among Myanmar's cities in that it is an entirely planned city outside of any state or region. Basic Education High School No. 2 Dagon is a public high school located a few miles north of downtown Yangon, Myanmar. The former nationalist high school founded for the children of the common folk, now educates mostly the children of well-to-do Burmese families from Dagon and vicinity. It was one of the first "nationalist schools" opened after the First National Strike against the British rule in Burma.
East Dagon Township is located in the easternmost part of Yangon, Myanmar. The township comprises 54 wards and three village tracts. It shares borders with Hlegu Township in the north, North Dagon Township in the west, and South Dagon Township in the south and west. It has its broadcasting headquarters in both the administrative capital of Naypyidaw and Yangon, Myanmar's largest city. The service runs Myanmar Radio and Myanmar Radio Minorities Service. Like all legally operating radio stations in Myanmar, such as Yangon City FM and Mandalay City FM, Myanmar Radio is under state management.
Myint Swe is a Burmese politician and retired army general currently serving as Acting President of Myanmar as well as First Vice President. He previously served as the acting president after the resignation of President Htin Kyaw on 21 March 2018, and the chief minister of Yangon Region from 30 March 2011 to 30 March 2016. On 30 March 2016, he was sworn in as the vice president of Myanmar. A member of the military proxy Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), he is an ethnic Mon former lieutenant general in the Myanmar Army.

Yangon City FM is a radio station that serves the Yangon metropolitan area, broadcasting on the FM band at a frequency of 89.0 MHz and on the Internet. Operated by the city government, Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC), City FM is one of two radio stations available in Yangon. Yangon's sole FM station employs a pop culture-oriented format with a focus on Burmese and English pop music, entertainment programs, live celebrity interviews, etc. The station is highly popular, especially among the youth, as it provides an alternative to the dreary propaganda-laden programming of Myanmar Radio National Service.
Mandalay FM is a radio station that serves the Mandalay metropolitan area, broadcasting on the FM band at a frequency of 87.9 MHz and on the Internet. Now the radio station is also serving 30 miles (48 km) around Taungoo and 60 miles (97 km) around Yangon.
MNL Cup Grand Royal 2009 is the inaugural knock-out club football tournament of the Myanmar National League. The tournament, held at the Aung San Stadium and the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon between 16 May and 5 July 2009, was contested by all eight clubs of the newly formed professional league. Yadanabon FC finished on top, one point ahead of Yangon United FC in group stage. On 5 July 2009, Yadanabon defeated Yangon United in the cup final on penalty shootout, to become the reigning champions of the league.
Nay Toe is an Arakanese film actor and comedian with the Burmese traditional anyeint troupe Htawara Hninzi. He won Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards for Best Actor three times: in 2009 with Moe Nya Einmet Myu, in 2015 with Nat Khat Mhar Tae Tite Pwal and in 2017 with Tar Tay Gyi. He also won the Star Award for the film Bridge of Clouds in 2018. He is one of the highest-paid actors in Myanmar.
The Sayawun Tin Shwe Literary Award has been presented annually since November 2002 under the patronage of the Myanmar Writers and Journalists Association (MWJA). Non-fiction books published in the previous year are eligible. The awards are named after the writer Sayawun Tin Shwe. The awards complement the government's National Literary Awards and Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Awards and the Pakokku U Ohn Pe literary award, Thuta Swesone literary award and Tun Foundation award.
The Ministry of Information in Myanmar officially informs the public about government policy plans and implementation and supports improvements to knowledge and education of the public. Since the 2021 Myanmar coup d'état it has been described as responsible for the dissemination of propaganda through state-owned media.
Red Cotton Silk Flower is a 2012 Burmese drama film. It is one of the films that reached the highest-grossing film in Myanmar. It was also shown in Singapore. The film was nominated for Best Actor, Actress, Film, Writer and Director. It was mostly shot in Yangon.
Ni Ni Khin Zaw is a Burmese pop singer. She is the 2008 winner at The Best of Melody World, a televised singing competition. She performed in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2013 Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw.
Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein is a Burmese pop singer, known for her stage presence and costumes, which have drawn comparisons to Lady Gaga. She has been a UNICEF celebrity ambassador since 2008.
Hlwan Paing is a Burmese singer-songwriter, composer, and actor. He is considered one of the most successful Burmese singers, and rose to fame with his debut album Done Pyan (Rocket), which was a duo album with Bobby Soxer. Hlwan Paing is also an active gaming streamer and started online streaming in 2018 by using his online alias Bo Paing Gyi.
Bobby Soxer also known as Htet Htet, is a Burmese singer, songwriter, and actress. She is considered one of the pioneering female hip-hop vocalists in Myanmar and has earned the title of "Myanmar's Hip Hop Queen."
