The Story So Far is an American pop-punk band from Walnut Creek, California, formed in 2007. They are currently signed to Pure Noise Records and have released 4 studio albums.
The Story So Far formed in Walnut Creek, California in 2007. [1] Their name is taken from the New Found Glory song "The Story So Far". [2] The band consisted of Parker Cannon on vocals, Kevin Geyer on lead guitar, Kevin Ambrose on rhythm guitar, Ryan Torf on drums, and Kelen Capener on bass. [1] On December 22, the band released the 5 Songs EP. [3] Ambrose parted ways with the band [1] when he went to college in 2010 and was replaced by William Levy. [4] In March 2010 it was announced the band had signed to Pure Noise. [5] Two months later the band released an EP, While You Were Sleeping (2010). [5] In November, the band released a split with Maker. [6]
Barrett Records released a split of The Story So Far and Morgan Foster in May 2011. [7] Pure Noise released the band's debut album Under Soil and Dirt in June. [8] On March 26, 2013, they released their second studio album, What You Don't See , [9] which debuted at number 46 on the Billboard 200 chart in the U.S. [10] They have also released a split with Stick to Your Guns on June 18. [11] This split contains one new original song, Clairvoyant, and a cover of Pinback's song "Loro". The band was featured on the cover of Alternative Press' March 2013 issue "100 Bands You Need to Know." [12] The band played the entire Warped Tour 2014 on the main stage. [13]
On April 24, 2014, The Story So Far announced they would be releasing Songs Of, an acoustic EP on June 17 through Pure Noise. [14] The record contains some acoustic versions of previous songs, as well as one new original song ("Navy Blue") and a Bob Marley cover.
On January 5, 2015, a video titled "The Story So Far Album Teaser #1" was uploaded on the band's official YouTube channel. The video shows multiple clips of the band members with friends goofing around and having fun. At the end of the video a text roll appears, saying "We are writing a new record stay tuned..." [15] On February 23, 2015 a video titled "The Story So Far Album teaser #2" was uploaded on the same channel, showing behind the scenes-footage of the making of the album. [16] On March 15, the band announced their self-titled album would be released on May 18, 2015. "Solo" and "Heavy Gloom" were uploaded to YouTube soon after. On May 11, the band released their full album to stream on their website ahead of the release date of May 19. [17]
The band reportedly entered the studio to record their fourth studio album in April 2017. [18] On September 13, 2017, the band released the song "Out of It". The track is included on a charity 7" vinyl, which was released on November 3. [19]
The album, titled Proper Dose , was officially announced on July 12, 2018, and was released on September 21, 2018. [20] [21] Proper Dose debuted at number 19 on the Billboard 200 chart, but quickly declined, falling off the chart the following week. [22] In efforts to promote the album, the band embarked on a European tour with supporting acts from Citizen and All Get Out. [23] At the conclusion of their European tour, the band immediately started a U.S. tour with Movements, Citizen, and Turnover. [24] On September 21, 2018 the band released their first music video from Proper Dose for their song "Upside Down", [25] followed by music videos for "Take Me As You Please" and "Proper Dose" on November 8, 2018 and January 22, 2019, respectively. On May 31, 2022, bassist Kelen Capener announced on his Twitter page that he was no longer a member of the band. No official reason was given for his departure by the band. [28] Capener was not officially replaced, with drummer Ryan Torf overtaking bass duties in studio and former Man Overboard bassist Nik Bruzzese joining the band in a touring capacity. 2022 saw The Story So Far expand to a live sextet for the first time in their career; with Torf moving to rhythm guitar and keyboards, Set Your Goals drummer Mike Ambrose also joined the band as a touring musician.
In early 2023, guitarist Kevin Geyer alleged on the Two Week Notice podcast that the band were "contractually obligated" to release new music ahead of their tour in support of Blink-182. [29] A new single, "Big Blind", was released on August 4, 2023. [30] A new single, "Letterman", came out on March 21, 2024, along with a music video. On the same date, their new upcoming album was announced, titled I Want to Disappear. It is set to release on June 21, 2024. [31]
Under Soil and Dirt (2011), [32] [33] What You Don't See (2013), [34] [35] and The Story So Far (2015) [36] [37] have all been described as pop-punk. With their fourth album, Proper Dose , marking a departure from pop punk and saw the band incorporating indie rock into their sound. The Story So Far has also been described as having an "edgier" take on pop punk, due to their frequent incorporation of hardcore punk and punk rock elements in their music. [38]

Stick to Your Guns is an American hardcore punk band from Orange County, California. Members of the band include lead vocalist Jesse Barnett, bassist Andrew Rose, guitarists Chris Rawson and Josh James, and drummer Adam Galindo. They are currently signed with Pure Noise Records.
Man Overboard is the second studio album by the American rock band Man Overboard. After the release of their debut album Real Talk (2010), guitarist Wayne Wildrick left the group, resulting in several line-up changes. In December 2010, the group had signed to independent label Rise Records, and aimed to release another album by fall of next year. Following Wildrick's return to the band in April 2011, the group began demoing songs for their next album the following month. With New Found Glory guitarist Steve Klein standing in as producer, the group recorded their second album at Cannon Found Soundation Studios in New Jersey in June. Following this, the band went on a European tour with Polar Bear Club. After the album was announced in August 2011, "Dead End Dreams" was made available for streaming later that month, followed by "Spunn" in mid-September.

Pure Noise Records is an American punk rock record label based in Nashville, Tennessee. It was founded by Jake Round in 2009 while he was an editor at AMP; the previous fall, friends of his in the band No Bragging Rights told him they were looking for a new label, and Round expressed interest in releasing the album himself. Prior to this Round had a short stint as an intern at Fat Wreck Chords. While the label began as a home operation, and had only put out five albums by the end of 2010, by 2014 some of the label's roster were main-stage acts at Warped Tour, and others had sold nearly 50,000 copies of their albums. Overall, the label's catalog had sold over 280,000 records as of March 2014. Among the label's signings are Vanna and Hit the Lights. In March 2017, Pure Noise Records partnered with Sony Music to create a new music label called Weekday Records.

Struggling with writer's block, vocalist Daniel Campbell spoke with several friends who were in bands for inspiration. No Closer to Heaven is a concept album, detailing the loss of a loved one. The album was recorded between March and April 2015. It was produced by Steve Evetts at The Omen Room. "Cardinals" was released as a single in June, followed by "Cigarettes & Saints" a month later. "I Don't Like Who I Was Then" was made available for streaming in August. "Thanks for the Ride" was made available for streaming in early September. No Closer to Heaven was released through Hopeless on September 4. The Target edition featured two additional tracks.
