The "bonus" tracks "Don't Blame Me" and "There Is No Greater Love" were part of the original recording session, and were added to Capitol Record's 1987 and 1997 CD re-issues. In 2007 Collectors' Choice Music also re-issued "The Very Thought of You" on CD and included the tracks "Happy New Year" and "Farewell To Arms" from a 1962 recording session.

It was considered quite innovative for its time and was quite warmly received by critics and the public alike. Jenkins also performed the suite in its entirety on the very time-conscious Toast of the Town, hosted by Ed Sullivan, on February 26, 1950. An expanded 90-minute live musical dramatization, featuring Peter Marshall and Helen O'Connell, was presented as an NBC Saturday Spectacular on October 27, 1956.

L-O-V-E is the final studio album by the American singer Nat King Cole. It was arranged by Ralph Carmichael. L-O-V-E was Cole's last album, and was released shortly before his death in February 1965. The songs "The Girl from Ipanema", "My Kind of Girl" and "More " were recorded December 1–3, 1964, shortly after Cole's diagnosis with lung cancer, and were the last recordings he made.
