Thomas Peterson is an American politician and a member of the Utah House of Representatives from District 1. He replaced Joel Ferry after Utah Governor Spencer Cox appointed him to a state agency. [1] [2]
Box Elder County is a county at the northwestern corner of Utah,United States. At the 2020 census,the population was 57,666,up from the 2010 figure of 49,975. Its county seat and largest city is Brigham City. The county was named for the box elder trees that abound in the county.

State Route 30 (SR-30) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Utah. It is the only highway signed as a Utah state route to traverse the entire width of the state. Legislatively the highway exists as 3 separate segments. With implied connections via Interstate 84 and U.S. Route 89,the highway is drivable as a continuous route from Nevada to Wyoming. The western segment is a historic corridor paralleling the pre-Lucin Cutoff routing of the First transcontinental railroad. A portion of the eastern segment has been designated the Bear Lake Scenic Byway as part of the Utah Scenic Byways program. The route was created in 1966 by combining several state highways into a single designation.

Spencer James Cox is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 18th governor of Utah since 2021. A moderate member of the Republican Party,he served as the eighth lieutenant governor of Utah from 2013 to 2021. In Fairview,Utah,where Cox lives and was raised,he was elected to the city council in 2004 and then as mayor in 2005. In 2008,he was elected as a Sanpete County county commissioner. He was elected to the Utah House of Representatives in 2012. In October 2013,Governor Gary Herbert appointed Cox to replace Greg Bell as lieutenant governor;he was confirmed unanimously by the Utah State Senate. Cox was elected to the lieutenant governorship as Herbert's running mate in 2016. He won the 2020 Utah gubernatorial election by a large margin.

Although incumbent Republican Governor Gary Herbert was eligible to run for re-election to a third full term,he initially announced shortly after being re-elected in 2016 that he would not run again,but indicated in January 2019 that he was open to the possibility of running again before ultimately deciding to retire and endorse his lieutenant governor,Spencer Cox. Utah has not had a Democratic governor since Scott M. Matheson left office in January 1985. This is the second longest active streak of one-party leadership,trailing only South Dakota,which has not had a Democratic governor since Harvey L. Wollman left office in 1979.
