Cleveland railway line

The Cleveland railway line is a suburban railway line extending 37.3 kilometres (23.2 mi) east-southeast from Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Queensland Rail City network.

Queensland North-east state of Australia

Queensland is the second-largest and third-most populous state in the Commonwealth of Australia. Situated in the north-east of the country, it is bordered by the Northern Territory, South Australia and New South Wales to the west, south-west and south respectively. Its mainland borders the City of Brisbane to the west and north-west, and Logan City to the south-west and south, while its islands are situated north of the City of Gold Coast.

In 1889, the Cleveland line was extended from Manly to the original Cleveland station. [1] [2]

Cleveland Central railway station

Cleveland Central railway station was a former railway station on Queensland Rail suburban network in Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. It was located between Raby Bay and Cleveland stations on the Cleveland railway line.

Thorneside station opened in 1889 as Waterloo. [3] It was closed in 1890 and reopened in 1909 as Ransome's railway siding. [3] In 1912, the station closed again when Ransome's railway siding was relocated over Tingalpa Creek. [3] In 1917, the station reopened under the current name of Thorneside. [3]

Tingalpa Creek is a creek in South East Queensland. It flows along Brisbane's south east boundary with Redland City Council. On early maps the creek was called both Tunim Creek and Tangulba Creek.

On 1 November 1960, the station closed when the line was truncated to Lota. [4] The station reopened on 25 September 1982 and served as an interim terminus as the line was being rebuilt to Cleveland. [5] Adjacent to the station lies a turning angle.
