Critical reception

The Washington Post wrote that "the songs have been lovingly, painstakingly digitized and sequenced so as to create a coherent album of tender, touching acoustic folk and minimally orchestrated pop that spotlights Cassidy's talent." [1]

Arun Starkey, writing for Far Out , opined Cassidy's version of "Kathy's Song" could make a "strong claim to be better than the original." [6]

Sounds of Silence is the second studio album by American folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, released on January 17, 1966. Grace Bernadette Griffith was a folk and Celtic singer based in Washington, D.C. She has been honored with multiple Wammie awards by the Washington Area Music Association. In 1998, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Griffith died at the age of 64 following complications from Parkinson's disease on June 5, 2021.

"Kathy's Song" is a song originally by Paul Simon from his 1965 debut album The Paul Simon Songbook. It was re-recorded for Simon & Garfunkel's second album Sounds of Silence, released in 1966. It has been described as one of Simon's most personal songs; it is dedicated to Kathy Chitty, Simon's girlfriend and muse during his mid-1960s sojourn in England. It has also been included on most compilation albums of the duo, such as Tales from New York: The Very Best of Simon & Garfunkel, The Essential Simon and Garfunkel and Simon & Garfunkel's Greatest Hits.

<i>Nightbird</i> (Eva Cassidy album) 2015 live album by Eva Cassidy

Nightbird is a 2-CD plus 1-DVD live album by American singer Eva Cassidy, released posthumously in November 2015, nineteen years after her death. The album was recorded at the Blues Alley club in Washington, D.C. in January 1996. Some of the tracks had previously been released on the 1996 album, Live at Blues Alley. The recordings have been remixed and remastered from the original tapes. Of the 31 songs, 12 are previously unreleased, including the title track "Nightbird", as well as the jazz standards "It Don't Mean a Thing " and "Fever". Of the 12 unreleased tracks, eight are previously unheard songs. The DVD which accompanies the 2 audio CDs contains 12 songs from the same set, of which 9 were previously included on the 2004 DVD release Eva Cassidy Sings and the remaining 3 are released for the first time.
