To Serve Man is the debut studio album by American deathgrind band Cattle Decapitation, released in 2002 through Metal Blade Records. [4] [5] The title is a reference to the Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man".
The tracks on To Serve Man have been described as "speedy and short bursts of dissonant grindcore" that also contain elements of death metal and crust punk. The album has been noted for its raw, stripped-down sound, which has been characterized as a "monotonous belch," drawing comparisons to Cannibal Corpse. Some of the album's guitar riffs have been likened to 1980s thrash metal acts such as Sadus and Kreator. Unlike many other bands in the genre, the Cattle Decaptiatopn did not make use of vocal effects (such as pitch shifting) or downtuned guitars. The album has also been noted for its clear production, relative to other bands in the genre such as Exhumed or Impaled. According to Blabbermouth, drummer Dave Astor "pushes the speed with a frantic tightness that will remind some of the first time they heard the Sadus D.T.P. demo." Lyrically, the album uses "gore imagery" as a metaphor for the consumption of animals, drawing comparisons to Carcass. [6] [7] [8]

In a positive review, Exclaim! praised the album's raw producion and omission of pitch shifting effects, calling Cattle Decaptiation an "earthy, organic counterpart to some of their more unimaginative goregrinding pals." [13] Brian O'Neill of AllMusic was not as positive, calling the band a "caricature of the grindy gore-core bands they hope to emulate", and criticizing what he perceived as the band's reliance on the genre's formula and unwillingness to innovate. [14]

Cephalic Carnage is an American deathgrind band formed in Denver, Colorado in 1992. The band comprises vocalist Leonard Leal, guitarists Steve Goldberg and Brian Hopp, drummer John Merryman and bassist Nick Schendzielos. Cephalic Carnage has released six studio albums and toured in North America, Europe and Japan.
Cattle Decapitation is an American deathgrind band formed in San Diego, California, in 1996. The band's current lineup includes vocalist Travis Ryan, guitarists Josh Elmore and Belisario Dimuzio, bassist Olivier Pinard, and drummer David McGraw. Since 2001, none of the founding members remain with the band. Despite not being in the original lineup, Ryan and Elmore are the only constant members on all of Cattle Decapitation's eight studio albums.
Sadus is an American thrash metal band from Antioch, California, active from 1985[A] to 2015, and reunited in 2017. Originally a quartet, the band's sound fuses thrash metal with death metal, featuring highly technical musicianship. They are known for the unique death growl of vocalist Darren Travis, and bassist Steve Di Giorgio. During their career, Sadus has released six studio albums, one compilation album and four demos, and has undergone a few lineup changes, with guitarist Darren Travis as the only constant member of the band.
Anomalies is Cephalic Carnage's fourth full-length album. It was released on Relapse Records. A video was released for the album's single, "Dying Will Be the Death of Me". The song is a parody of American metalcore.

Humanure is the second studio album by American deathgrind band Cattle Decapitation. It was released on July 13, 2004 through Metal Blade Records and has been noted for its iconic cover art, depicting a cow defecating what appears to be human body parts in a wasteland environment — the image has been compared to the artwork for Pink Floyd’s album Atom Heart Mother. Humanure generated some minor controversy around the time of release for its obscene imagery.

The album was recorded and mixed at Sharkbite studios in Oakland, California, with engineering and production handled by Billy Anderson. The artwork was designed by Wes Benscoter, and shows the outside of a large slaughterhouse with the "general public being herded inside to meet their demise." It is the band's last album to feature bassist Troy Oftedal, and their first to feature drummer Dave McGraw. The album was inducted into Decibel's hall of fame.

The Shadow Inside is the sixth album by the American thrash metal band Sadus, and their first in 17 years, released on November 17, 2023, via Nuclear Blast. Production of the album can be traced back to August 20, 2017, when Darren Travis confirmed that Sadus would be releasing new material. In October of that year, Travis posted two videos from the studio teasing new music from the band. Former bassist Steve Di Giorgio was not part of the reunion. The album was recorded in Trident Studios. It is the last Sadus album to feature drummer Jon Allen, who was fired from the band in 2024.
