Tots Tolentino [1] [2] (born on July 2, 1959) is a jazz musician from the Philippines.
Tots Tolentino's interest in jazz began at age 16 upon hearing recordings by Charlie Parker. [3] In 1977, he enrolled at the University of the Philippines Conservatory of Music where he studied flute under Prof. Eric Barcelo and played with the U.P. Jazz Ensemble, switching to saxophone. He afterwards enrolled at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, under the tutelage of Joseph "Joe" Viola [4] where he graduated magna cum laude in 1982. [5] His professional career as a first-call session musician in the Philippine recording industry [6] [7] culminated in his own first album in 1990. [8]
Tots Tolentino has five solo albums to date, namely the self-titled Tots Tolentino [8] (1990) and Inah [9] (1991), both under Blackgold Records; and Color Real [10] (1993) with Dypro Records. In 2012 he released a Christmas album entitled Tots Tolentino Plays Vehnee Saturno Christmas Songs [11] . In 2015, he released another Christmas album under the Jesuit Communications Foundation, called God Rest Ye! (Christmas Jazz with Tots Tolentino). [12]
In the early 90s, Tots Tolentino fronted the group Buhay, [13] [14] a band composed of Pinoy jazz musicians Wowee Posadas (keyboards), Mar Dizon [15] (drums), Meong Pacana (bass), and Tots Tolentino. [16]
In the mid-1990s, he was in invited by the famed trumpeter Terumasa Hino [17] to join the Asian Jazz All-Stars Power Quartet, [18] [19] a jazz group featuring four of Asia's prominent jazz musicians, namely pianist/organist Jeremy Monteiro from Singapore, guitarist Eugene Pao from Hong Kong, drummer Hong Chanutr Techatana-nan [20] from Thailand, and saxophonist Tots Tolentino from the Philippines.
Tots joined Johnny Alegre AFFINITY in 2002, a Manila-based jazz group with frontman Johnny Alegre (guitar), Colby de la Calzada (contrabass), Elhmir Saison (piano), and Koko Bermejo (drums). Johnny Alegre AFFINITY released several albums which were nominated for awards.
He was one of the founders and principal soloists of a large ensemble called The AMP Band, [21] consisting of members from the Asosasyon ng Musikong Pilipino, [22] [23] hence its name.
Tolentino participated in ensembles featured in the Adobo Jazz series of Pinoy Jazz anthology albums.
Tots Tolentino helped organize the Asosasyon ng Musikong Pilipino (trans: Association of Filipino Musicians). [22] to professionalize Filipino musicians wages, contracts and render financial assistance, legal counsel and coordination with government agencies.
Tots joined the faculty of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music (UST Music) [24] and is presently the head of its Jazz Studies program [25] and the conductor of the UST Jazz Ensemble. [26] [27] The Filipino Music Art Collective [28] lists Tots Tolentino as one of their mentors.

The music of the Philippines includes the musical performance arts in the Philippines and the music of Filipinos composed in various local and international genres and styles. Philippine musical compositions are often a mixture of Indigenous styles, and various Asian styles, as well as Spanish/Latin American and (US) American influences through foreign rule from those countries.

He is heavily associated with Pinoy rock.

Lani Bayot Misalucha (Tagalog:[ˈlanɪˈbɐjɔtmɪsɐˈlutʃa]; born Lani Dimalanta Bayot is a Filipino singer. Known for her vocal range, powerful, emotive vocals and ability to sing opera arias, she has been referred to as "Asia's Nightingale". Her music has received recognition from a number of award-giving bodies such as Awit Awards, Aliw Awards, Box Office Entertainment Awards and PMPC Star Awards for Music. In 2021, she was named "People of the Year" by People Asia.

The Itchyworms is a Filipino rock band. The band is composed of Jazz Nicolas on lead vocals, drums and piano, Jugs Jugueta on co-lead vocals, keys and guitars, Kelvin Yu on bass guitars, Chino Singson on lead guitars, Weckl Mercado on guitars, and Mikey Amistoso on guitars and keys. The group made their name in the OPM scene in 2006 with their second album, Noontime Show, with songs such as "Akin Ka Na Lang" and "Beer".

The Johnny Alegre AFFINITY is a jazz group originating from the Philippines. It is led by self-taught Philippine guitarist-composer Johnny Alegre, together with bassist Colby de la Calzada, drummer Koko Bermejo, pianist Elhmir Saison and saxophonist Tots Tolentino. The ensemble first gathered in May 2002 at Manila’s Pink Noise Studios for Alegre’s composition, “Stones of Intramuros”, for inclusion in the jazz anthology CD, Adobo Jazz: A Portrait of the Filipino as a Jazz Artist, Vol. 1, and thereafter carried on as a working unit.
The Apolinario Mabini Hiking Society, later popularly known as APO Hiking Society, or simply APO, are a Filipino musical group, that comprised Danny Javier, Jim Paredes, and Boboy Garrovillo. Today, the group consists of only Paredes and Garrovillo as a duo.
Maria Josefina Albert known as Joey Albert is a Filipino singer, songwriter, and lyricist. An alumna of St. Theresa's College Manila and Assumption College San Lorenzo, she began her professional singing career in 1981. Nonoy Zuñiga is a Filipino singer, actor, host, influencer, environment and PWD Advocate, television presenter and physician. Dubbed as the "Philippines' King of Pop Ballads" he released his debut album Ako Ay Ikaw Rin in 1981. It was both a critical and commercial success, reaching double Platinum in the Philippines and won "Album of the Year" at the Awit Awards & Cecille Awards. Also Aliw Award's "Entertainer of the Year"
HUMANFOLK is the musical collaboration and concept band of guitarist-composer Johnny Alegre with the New York City–based Fil-Am percussionist Susie Ibarra and her husband, drummer Roberto Juan Rodriguez, together with the multi-instrumentalist Cynthia Alexander and the electronica exponent Malek Lopez. This collective is a pioneering effort marking the convergence in a contemporary Philippine setting of multiple musical idioms. The group's name is a deliberate conjoining of the words "human" and "folk", akin to "menfolk" and "womenfolk", without prejudice to gender and frequently set in all caps to distinguish it from a dictionary term.
