Lake Towuti is a lake in East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi province, Indonesia. Surrounded by mountains, it is the largest lake of the island of Sulawesi and one of the five lakes of the Malili Lake system. The Larona River flows from the lake to the Boni Bay. The town Laronda is located on its shore.
Bas Kast is a German-Dutch science writer. He studied psychology and biology at the University of Konstanz and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Working as a freelancer first for the German weekly newspaper Die Zeit and other magazines, he later became an editor and reporter for the Berlin-based newspaper Der Tagesspiegel.
