The U-12 Softball World Cup is an international softball tournament for male and female players between age 10-12, [1] and is the most elite and highest level of competition in its age category. It is organized by (WBSC). [2] The tournament is held biennially, starting in 2019. The current champion is Chinese Taipei, who won the inaugural and the second competition as hosts. [3] [4] [5]

The U-12 Softball World Cup is played under the WBSC's International Rules. Dimensions of regulation U-12 Softball World Cup ballparks (distance to the outfield fence, pitching mound, base paths, etc.) are significantly increased compared to local youth leagues, due to the superior nature and strength of the players involved. [1]

History

The inaugural tournament was held in Tainan, Taipei from July 26 to July 30, 2019 concurrently with the 2019 U-12 Baseball World Cup. [6] [7] Four teams competed in the 2019 event, and Chinese Taipei won the event's first ever title. [8] The second edition was postponed from 2021 to December 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Taiwan, and the event is held separately from the U-12 Baseball World Cup with the number of participating teams expanded to five. [9] [10]

Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium is a stadium in Beitun District, Taichung, Taiwan. The stadium officially opened on November 9, 2006, replacing the antiquated Taichung Baseball Field. Located on the corner of Chongde Road (崇德路) and Huanzhong Road (環中路), it has considerably more parking available than the old stadium.

Its goal was to spread and develop baseball in Taiwan, helping to host national and international baseball competitions in hope to enhance the quality of Taiwanese baseball, and also to enhance the health of the Taiwanese citizens as well as promoting sportsmanship.

In Taiwan, some of the most popular sports include baseball, basketball, badminton, football, softball, table tennis, tennis, and volleyball. Martial arts such as t'ai chi ch'uan and taekwondo are also practiced by many people. International-known athletes include Jeremy Lin, Tai Tzu-ying, Kuo Hsing-chun, Yu Chang, Chien-Ming Wang, Lin Yun-ju, Yang Chuan-kwang, Chou Tien-chen, Hsieh Su-wei, and Yani Tseng among others.

The Chinese Taipei baseball team is the national men's baseball team of the Republic of China (Taiwan). It is governed by the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association. The team is ranked fourth in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The team is usually made up of professionals from Taiwan's Chinese Professional Baseball League, Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, and Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball from the United States.

Wang Sheng-wei, nicknamed "Magneto" and known as Haro Ngayaw in Amis language, is a Taiwanese baseball shortstop for the Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). He holds the record for most Gold Gloves by any CPBL player with nine.

The U-18 Asian Baseball Championship is an under-18 international baseball tournament sanctioned and created by the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA). The tournament is prior to the 18U Baseball World Cup which is held every other year.

The 2013 18U Baseball World Cup was an international baseball competition held in Taichung and Yunlin (Douliu), Taiwan from August 30 to September 8, 2013. There were no games played on August 30 and August 31, due to rain.

The 2021–22 T1 League regular season was the first regular season of T1 League. Participating teams included the Kaohsiung Aquas, the New Taipei CTBC DEA, the Taichung Wagor Suns, the Tainan TSG GhostHawks, the TaiwanBeer HeroBears, and the Taoyuan Leopards. Each team played against another six times, three at home and three on the road, respectively, leaded to 30 matches in total. The regular season started on November 27, 2021 and ended on May 20, 2022. The 2021–22 season opening game, matched by the Kaohsiung Aquas and the TaiwanBeer HeroBears, was played at University of Taipei Tianmu Campus Gymnasium.

The 2021–22 T1 League season was the first season of the T1 League, with the Kaohsiung Aquas, the New Taipei CTBC DEA, the Taichung Wagor Suns, the Tainan TSG GhostHawks, the TaiwanBeer HeroBears, and the Taoyuan Leopards participating in this competition. The regular season started on November 27, 2021 and ended on May 20, 2022. The play-in series was played on May 22. The semifinals series started on May 24 and ended on May 28. The finals series started on May 31 and ended on June 4. On June 4, the Kaohsiung Aquas defeated the Taichung Wagor Suns, 3–0, winning the 2021–22 season championship.

The 2022 season of the Taiwan Football Premier League is the sixth season of the top-flight association football competition in Taiwan under its current format. The season began on 17 April 2022.

The 2022–23 New Taipei CTBC DEA season was the franchise's 2nd season, its second season in the T1 League, its 2nd in New Taipei City. The DEA were coached by Lee Yi-Hua in his second year as head coach, with Chang Shu-Jen as their general manager. On September 5, 2022, the T1 League named Chang Shu-Jen, the general manager of the New Taipei CTBC DEA, as their new secretary general. And the DEA named Liu Chih-Wei, the general manager of the CTBC Brothers, as their new general manager.

The regular season started on October 29, 2022 and ended on April 23, 2023. The All-Star Game was played on February 28. The play-in series started on April 25 and ended on April 27. The semifinals series started on April 28 and ended on May 8. The finals series started on May 13 and ended on May 21. On May 21, the New Taipei CTBC DEA defeated the Tainan TSG GhostHawks, 4–0, winning the 2022–23 season championship.

The 2022 U-12 Baseball World Cup was an under 12 international baseball tournament being held from July 28 to August 7 in Tainan, Taiwan. It was the sixth edition of the tournament. The tournament was supposed to be held in 2021 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
