Underwood is a community in the Regional Municipality of York in Markham, Ontario, Canada that is located at the corner of Warden Ave between Birchmount Road and Steeles Avenue, north up to Hwy 7. Underwood is considered part of Downtown and Uptown Markham. [1] It is likely considered to be part of Milliken.
The former farm land disappeared in the 1980s and is now occupied by single family homes. The north edge of the area is occupied by commercial parks.
The place is named for Underwood, Nottinghamshire in England. [2]
The only reminder of Underwood is sign along GO Transit Stouffville line south of Denison Street between Kennedy Road and Birchmount Road.

York Centre is a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been the name of ridings in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario three different times. It was created initially in 1955 from the southern part of York North. It was dissolved in 1963 when it was split into three ridings called Yorkview, Downsview and Armourdale. In 1967, it was reconstituted north of Steeles in the township of Markham. This lasted until 1999 when it was dissolved into Markham—Unionville. The name was given to a new riding formed in its original location south of Steeles. It remains as an existing riding today.
Downtown Markham is the main downtown of Markham, Ontario, Canada. Currently under development, it is located within Markham Centre near the historic Unionville district and is proposed to serve as the heart of Markham. Businesses in the district are expected to employ up to 16,000 individuals, and it may house as many as 10,000 residents. It is home to several species of fish including trout, carp, bass and salmon. It is a meandering river which, like most rivers in Toronto, travels through a glacial ravine formed after the last Ice Age. The Highland Creek watershed, including tributaries, is almost entirely contained within Scarborough.

Birchmount Hospital, formerly Scarborough Grace Hospital, is a hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Located in the Agincourt neighbourhood along Birchmount Road, the hospital was opened in 1984 by The Salvation Army. As of 2016, it is part of the Scarborough Health Network.
