The United Arab Emirates national under-19 cricket team represent the country of United Arab Emirates in under-19 international cricket.

The UAE has qualified for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup on three occasions – 2014 (as host), 2020 and 2022. Additionally, the team has regularly qualified for the Under-19 Asia Cup as one of the leading ICC associate members in Asia.

History

The UAE became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1989 and an associate member the following year. [1]

The UAE qualified for the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup as hosts, which was also the first time it had hosted a global cricket event. [2]

In April 2019, the team won the Asia Division 1 tournament to qualify for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup for the second time. [3] The team coach for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup was South African Dominic Telo, assisted by UAE senior team captain Ahmed Raza. [4] In the tournament warm-up matches, UAE caused a stir by registering an upset victory over New Zealand. [5]

Former Pakistan international Mudassar Nazar served as national under-19 coach for the 2021 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup and the 2022 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. [6]

At the 2022 World Cup, the UAE recorded an upset victory against the hosts West Indies, winning by 82 runs in the 9th-place play-off semi-final. [7]

The stadium was one of the dedicated venues for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

The ACC Under-19 Asia Cup is a cricket tournament organised by the ACC for Under-19 teams from its member nations. It was first held in 1989 in Bangladesh where India won the tournament. The second edition was played after 14 years in 2003 in Pakistan where India retained their title. In the group stages of 2003 edition, Irfan Pathan claimed 9/16 against Bangladesh. The 3rd edition was played in Malaysia in 2012 where the trophy was shared by India and Pakistan after the final was tied. The fourth edition was held in 2013/14 in UAE which was won by India. The fifth edition was held in Sri Lanka in December 2016 and was won by India too. The sixth edition was held in November 2017 in Malaysia, which was won by Afghanistan by 185 run from Pakistan. The seventh edition was held in September & October 2018 in Bangladesh, which was won by India by 144 run from Sri Lanka. The eight edition was held in September 2019 in Sri Lanka & India retained their title. The ninth edition had taken place in December 2021 in United Arab Emirates.

Usman Mushtaq is a Pakistani-born cricketer who played for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. He made his debut for the United Arab Emirates national team in November 2015. He has represented the UAE at One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International level. Mushtaq was born in Pakistan, and before emigrating to the UAE played first-class cricket for Sialkot and represented the Pakistan under-19s.

Alishan Sharafu is an Indian-born cricketer who plays for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. He was named in the United Arab Emirates squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In their plate semi-final match against Nigeria, Sharafu scored an unbeaten 59 runs and was named the man of the match. He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut on 23 February 2020, against Iran, in the 2020 ACC Western Region T20 tournament.

Adhitya Shetty is a cricketer who plays for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. He is a right-arm leg spin bowler.

Ali Aamer Naseer is a cricketer who plays for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team. He is an all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls left-arm fast-medium.

Ethan Carl D'Souza is an Emirati cricketer, who is a left-handed batsman. He plays for Team Abu Dhabi in domestic cricket. He made his international debut for the United Arab Emirates cricket team in 2023.
