The following tables include various statistics for players on the United States men's national soccer team (featuring all caps, goals, assists and goalkeeper wins and shutouts) from the team's inception in 1916 through the July 7, 2019 game with Mexico.
The United States men's national soccer team (USMNT) is controlled by the United States Soccer Federation and competes in the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football.
In sport, a cap is a metaphorical term for a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap.
The Mexico national football team represents Mexico in international football and is governed by the Mexican Football Federation. It competes as a member of CONCACAF, which encompasses the countries of North and Central America, and the Caribbean. The team plays its home games at the Estadio Azteca.

USSF did not begin tracking assists until the 1970s. The top six or seven positions are most likely accurate as no players before the mid-1980s amassed more than twenty or thirty caps. For example, Boris Bandov, the player active before 1980 with the highest number of caps, played 33 times between 1976 and 1983, while Perry Van der Beck played 23 times between 1979 and 1985. With the typical low scores of the times, it was unlikely any players before the 1980s assisted on more than a handful of goals.
The United States Soccer Federation (USSF), commonly referred to as U.S. Soccer, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the official governing body of the sport of soccer in the United States. With headquarters in Chicago, the FIFA member governs U.S. amateur and professional soccer, including the men's, women's, youth, beach soccer, futsal, and Paralympic national teams. U.S. Soccer sanctions referees and soccer tournaments for most soccer leagues in the United States. The U.S. Soccer Federation also administers and operates the U.S. Open Cup, which was first held in 1914.
Boris Bandov (born November 23, 1953 in Livno, PR Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a retired Croatian-American soccer player who currently coaches youth soccer. Bandov spent ten seasons in the North American Soccer League, two in the Major Indoor Soccer League and one in the United Soccer League. While born in Bosnia-Hercegovina, he became a U.S. citizen in 1976. He earned thirty-three caps, scoring two goals, with the U.S. national team between 1976 and 1983.
Perry Van der Beck is a retired U.S. soccer midfielder, former coach and technical director, and the current Vice President of Competition and Operations for the United Soccer League.
