Upakul Express is an inter-city train of Bangladesh. It runs between Dhaka and Noakhali District. [1] [2] It was introduced in 1984 and operated by Bangladesh Railway. [3]

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is the largest international airport in Bangladesh. It is located in Kurmitola, 17 kilometres from the city centre, in the northern part of the capital city Dhaka. The airport is also used as part of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu. The airport has an area of 802 hectares. The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) operates and maintains the airport. It started operations in 1980, taking over from Tejgaon Airport as the principal international airport of the country. The airport was formerly known as Dacca International Airport and later as Zia International Airport, before being named in honour of Shah Jalal, who is one of the most respected Sufi saints of Bangladesh. The IATA code of the airport "DAC" is derived from "Dacca", which is the previously used spelling for "Dhaka".

July 2016 Dhaka attack terrorist attacks in Dhaka, Bangladesh

On the night of 1 July 2016, at 21:20 local time, five militants took hostages and opened fire on the Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan Thana. The assailants entered the bakery with crude bombs, machetes, pistols, and took several dozen hostages. In the immediate response, while Dhaka Metropolitan Police tried to regain control of the bakery, two police officers were shot dead by the assailants.

Mitali Express International express rail service

The Mitali Express train is an international express rail service which runs between the Indian city of Siliguri and the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka every week. It is the third modern-day fully air conditioned passenger train link between the Indian state of West Bengal and Bangladesh. Both the prime ministers of the two neighboring countries officially inaugurated the non-stop passenger train with ten compartments on the new 513 km route from Dhaka on 26 March 2021, the day Bangladesh celebrated the golden jubilee of its independence. The prime minister of India was in Dhaka to mark the auspicious occasion of fifty years of independence of Bangladesh. After 56 years of stoppage, this train route recreates the previous Siliguri route between India and Bangladesh. A valid visa and passport is required beforehand to purchase a ticket for the Mitali Express train. Tickets are available at Cantonment railway station in Dhaka, Bangladesh and at New Jalpaiguri railway station in Siliguri, India.
