Volleyball is an event at the Island Games, the biennial multi-sports event for island nations, territories and dependencies.
Volleyball has been selected as a sport in every Island Games for both Men and Women since the games were started in 1985.

Greece was the host country for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, from 13 to 29 August 2004. As the progenitor nation and in keeping with tradition, Greek athletes have competed at every Summer Olympics in the modern era, alongside Australia, Great Britain, and Switzerland. The Hellenic Olympic Committee fielded a total of 426 athletes to the Games, 215 men and 211 women, and had achieved automatic qualification places in all sports, with the exception of men's and women's field hockey. It was also the nation's largest team ever in Summer Olympic history since the first modern Games were held in 1896.
The Island Games are biennial international multi-sports events organised by the International Island Games Association (IIGA). Competitor teams each represent different island communities which are IIGA members. Currently, all competitor teams represent non-sovereign territories of European nations—some within European waters and some further overseas.

The Cayman Islands competed at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from July 10 to 26, 2015. For the first time ever the country had a national house at a multi-sport event. The offices of FUSE Marketing Group, in Downtown Toronto served as the location of the house.
The XVI Island Games were held in Jersey, Channel Islands, from 27 June to 3 July 2015. This was the second time the island hosted the games, the first being in 1997.

The event includes both men's and women's singles and doubles competitions, and the format is similar to that of other international tennis tournaments. The first Island Games were held in 1985 and included tennis as one of the sports. Since then, the sport has been included in every edition of the games.
