Tennis is a sport that has been included in the program of the Island Games, which is a multi-sport event held every two years between teams representing islands that are members of the International Island Games Association. The event includes both men's and women's singles and doubles competitions, and the format is similar to that of other international tennis tournaments. The first Island Games were held in 1985 and included tennis as one of the sports. Since then, the sport has been included in every edition of the games.

Australia has sent athletes to every Summer Olympic Games, as well as every Winter Olympics except 1924–32 and 1948. In 1908 and 1912 Australia competed with New Zealand under the name Australasia.
Badminton had its debut as an official event on the 1992 Summer Olympics and has been contested in eight Olympiads. 74 different nations have appeared in the Olympic badminton competitions, with 17 appearing all nine times. It is governed by the Badminton World Federation.
Tennis competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing were held from August 10 to August 17 at the Olympic Green Tennis Centre. The DecoTurf surface rendered the event a hardcourt tournament.
In its own right Jersey participates in the Commonwealth Games and in the bi-annual Island Games, which it last hosted in 2015. Jersey is a founder member of the Island Games Association and has participated in every Games since the first in 1985. Jersey first competed in 1958 in the British Empire and Commonwealth Games and has since participated in every staging of what became the Commonwealth Games. Youth sports participation includes the Commonwealth Youth Games and Jeux des Isles.
Guernsey participates in its own right in the Commonwealth Games.
The tennis tournaments at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London were staged at the All England Club in Wimbledon, from 28 July to 5 August. This was the first Olympic grass court tournament since tennis was reintroduced as an Olympic sport and the first to be held at a Grand Slam venue in the Open era. Two other 2012 Summer Olympic bid finalists had also offered Grand Slam venues. Second-place finisher Paris offered the French Open venue, the Stade Roland Garros, which later was also included in their successful 2024 bid. Meanwhile, fourth-place finisher New York City offered the US Open venue, the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens.
Great Britain and Northern Ireland, represented by the British Olympic Association (BOA), competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, from 27 July to 12 August 2012 as the host nation and the team of selected athletes was officially known as Team GB. British athletes have competed at every Summer Olympic Games in the modern era, alongside Australia, France and Greece, though Great Britain is the only one to have won at least one gold medal at all of them. London was the first city to host the Summer Olympics on three different occasions, having previously done so in 1908 and 1948. It was joined by Paris in 2024 and will be joined by Los Angeles in 2028 in hosting the Olympic Games for a third time. Team GB, organised by BOA, sent a total of 541 athletes, 279 men and 262 women, to the Games, and won automatic qualification places in all 26 sports.
Belarus' Victoria Azarenka and Max Mirnyi defeated Great Britain's Laura Robson and Andy Murray in the final, 2–6, 6–3, [10–8] to win the gold medal in Mixed Doubles tennis at the 2012 Summer Olympics. In the bronze medal match, the United States' Lisa Raymond and Mike Bryan defeated Germany's Sabine Lisicki and Christopher Kas, 6–3, 4–6, [10–4].
The tennis tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held at the Olympic Tennis Centre from 6 to 14 August. The competition was played on a fast hardcourt surface used in numerous North American tournaments that aims to minimize disruption for players.
Tennis at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo was held between 24 July and 1 August 2021 at the Ariake Tennis Park.
The European Bowls Championship formerly the European Bowls Team Championships is a biennial continental lawn bowls tournament for European nations. From its inauguration in 1997 until September 2021, the tournament was organised by the European Bowls Union (EBU).
Tennis at the Pacific Games has been contested since 1963 when it was included as one of ten sports at the First South Pacific Games held in Suva, Fiji.
Table Tennis is an event at the Island Games, the biennial multi-sports event for island nations, territories and dependencies.
Squash is an event at the Island Games, the biennial multi-sports event for island nations, territories and dependencies.
Golf at the Island Games, the biennial multi-sports event for island nations, territories and dependencies, was first played in 1991 with the Ladies competitions starting in 1997. It has now become a regular sport in the Island Games.

Wheelchair tennis at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan took place at the Ariake Tennis Park from 27 August to 4 September 2021.
Elena Clare Johnson is a badminton player from Guernsey who competed in the Island Games since 1999 and the Commonwealth Games six times. She was the flagbearer for Guernsey at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The tennis tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris ran from 27 July to 4 August at the Stade Roland Garros, featuring a total of 172 players across five medal events: singles and doubles for both men and women and mixed doubles. Similar to previous editions, the Paris 2024 format is set in a single-elimination tournament with the men's and women's singles draws consisting of 64 players. The tennis tournaments will feature six rounds in the men's and women's singles, five in the men's and women's doubles, and four in the mixed doubles. The players and pairs advancing to the semifinal stage will guarantee their medal contention with the two losing semifinalists competing for a bronze medal. All singles matches will be best of three sets with a standard tiebreak in every set, including the final set. In all doubles competitions, a match tiebreak will be contested instead of a third set. The Paris 2024 event is the first Olympic clay court event since the Barcelona 1992 event was played at Tennis de la Vall d'Hebron. It will also be the first Olympic tournament to be played at a Grand Slam venue since the London 2012 event was staged at the Wimbledon Championships venue, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
