Walter Kusch (born 31 May 1954 in Hildesheim) is a German former swimmer who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics and in the 1976 Summer Olympics. [1]
Kusch was the subject of Young Europe (Junges Europa), a sculpture by German artist Arno Breker which depicted the head of a hawk atop the body of a man, modeled on Kusch. [2]
Ulrike Nasse-Meyfarth is a German former high jumper. She won the Olympic title twice, in 1972 and 1984. She is the youngest Olympic champion ever in women's high jump, and at the time of her 1984 triumph, she also was the oldest ever.
Walter Mahlendorf is a German former sprinter who won a gold medal in the 4 × 100 m relay at the 1960 Summer Olympics. The German team finished second behind the American team, equaling its own world record of 39.5, but the Americans were later disqualified for an incorrect exchange.
Arnold Fanck was a German film director and pioneer of the mountain film genre. He is best known for the extraordinary alpine footage he captured in such films as The Holy Mountain (1926), The White Hell of Pitz Palu (1929), Storm over Mont Blanc (1930), The White Ecstasy (1931), and S.O.S. Arno Breker was a German sculptor who is best known for his public works in Nazi Germany, where they were endorsed by the authorities as the antithesis of degenerate art. He was made official state sculptor, and exempted from military service. One of his better known statues is Die Partei, representing the spirit of the Nazi Party that flanked one side of the carriage entrance to Albert Speer's new Reich Chancellery.
Christoph Höhne is a racewalker who competed in the 50 km walk for East Germany in the 1960s and 1970s.
Dorel Simion is a Romanian boxer. Simion won the Welterweight bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He also won gold at the 1997 World Championships and 1998 European Championships.
Kurt Bendlin was a West German decathlete. In 1967 he became the first German to set a world decathlon record in 34 years; he was voted German Sportsman of the Year, received the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt, and was cast in bronze by Arno Breker. Next year he won a bronze medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City.

Walter Schröder was a German rower who competed for the United Team of Germany in the 1960 Summer Olympics. In 1960, he was a crew member of the West German boat which won the gold medal in the eights event. In 1959 they had won already the European Championships. After his career as rower he finished his physical education studies, researched and published extensively mainly on rowing and motor learning. He was hired by the University of Hamburg, where he moved up from rowing instructor to Associate Professor for movement studies. Into his section of the department he brought other former athletes, e.g. Arnd Krüger.
Axel Hermann Peschel is a German former cyclist. His sporting career began with SC Dynamo Berlin. He competed for East Germany in the team time trial at the 1968 Summer Olympics. Peschel won the Peace Race in 1968. He won the DDR Rundfahrt in 1965 and 1967.

He was also part of the national team at the 2001 Men's European Water Polo Championship and 2003 Men's European Water Polo Championship.
