Water Street is an urban neighborhood located in Downtown Tampa, Florida. The waterfront community stretches 16 blocks and includes residential, commercial, and institutional buildings along Tampa Bay. The project was developed by Strategic Property Partners, LLC.,a joint venture of Cascade Investment, owned by Bill Gates, the Microsoft co-founder, and Jeffrey Vinik, owner of Tampa Bay Lightning. Phase one of the development of Water Street began in 2017 and phase two is expected to be completed in 2027. The development is estimated to cost $3 Billion and will add 3500 new residences to Tampa. [1] Water Street is the first neighborhood in the world to be certified by the International WELL Building Institute for advancing healthy lifestyles. [2]
The Water Street neighborhood is located in-between the Channel District to the north-east and Downtown Tampa, Florida to the west. The total area for the area is 50 acres (0.20 km2). Water Street is connected to the downtown financial district and Channel District via the TECO Line Streetcar and the Tampa Riverwalk.
Water Street opened its first mixed-use residential building, Heron Residences, in April 2021. Heron is a dual tower conjoined by a 30,000 sq ft (2,800 m2) garden rooftop and Publix Greenwise Market. [3] The building was designed by architect Kohn Pedersen Fox to replicate a coral reef. [4] [5] The Cora is a 23-story mixed-use residential tower designed by architect COOKFOX. [6] In 2022, the Asher, designed by Morris Adjmi Architects opened, adding 490 residences to the neighborhood. [7]
The Water Street neighborhood contains the Tampa EDITION hotel and residence, the Tampa JW Marriott, the Tampa Marriott and ROOST Tampa. [8] The Tampa EDITION was designed by architect Morris Adjmi and has 172 guest rooms, 38 residences. The JW Marriott opened in the Water Street neighborhood in 2020, making it the 100th hotel built by JW Marriott. [9]
The Water Street neighborhood features installments of public art including LED sculptures, murals, water fountains, green spaces and digital art. The first installation of public art is titled the "Three Arcs" designed with programmable LEDs by Jim Cambol. [10] An overhead footbridge which connects the JW Marriott and the Water Street Marriott hotel will use digital projection technology to react to the footsteps back and forth called "Halocline Sky" by London artist Jason Bruges. [11] In 2022, Water Street hosted British contemporary artist Lucy Sparrow's "Tampa Fresh Foods" featuring 50,000 grocery items made of felt. Sparrow's Tampa Fresh Foods art installation was up from January 20, 2022 to February 20, 2022 and sponsored by the Vinik Family Foundation and Art Production Fund. [12]
John Calvin Portman Jr. was an American neofuturistic architect and real estate developer widely known for popularizing hotels and office buildings with multi-storied interior atria. Portman also had a particularly large impact on the cityscape of his hometown of Atlanta, with the Peachtree Center complex serving as downtown's business and tourism anchor from the 1970s onward. The Peachtree Center area includes Portman-designed Hyatt, Westin, and Marriott hotels. Portman's plans typically deal with primitives in the forms of symmetrical squares and circles.

Channel District is a residential neighborhood in the City of Tampa that includes an entertainment complex, just east of Downtown Tampa, Florida. It is bordered by Ybor Channel on the east and Garrison Channel on the south. Channelside is a nickname for the entertainment complex Channelside Bay Plaza, within the neighborhood that includes shops, restaurants, and bars. It is located next to the Florida Aquarium, American Victory Museum, Port Tampa Bay and a short stretch on the Tampa Riverwalk to the Tampa Bay History Center. Also located in the district is the Amalie Arena where the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning play their home games. The Arena also hosts concerts and other events. The center of the Bay Plaza has a large open court for live music, with views of the downtown skyline, cruise ships and the Port of Tampa. It also houses a Sony Giant Screen theater. The TECO Streetcar has several stops in the district. Also, NEVs are being utilized by startups to link Tampa's core neighborhoods including Channelside. The Tampa Convention Center is located adjacent to the district to the west.

The Grand Avenue Project was a government lead revitalization effort for the Bunker Hill neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles on Grand Avenue and centered around Grand Park, its surrounding county government buildings and its parking lots. It was administered by the Grand Avenue Authority, a joint powers authority consisting of Los Angeles County and City. The first task was to improve the streetscape of Grand Avenue. The second element was to upgrade the 12-acre (4.9 ha) Grand Park in 2012 with a refurbished fountains, lawn furniture, walkways and the planting of native gardens. And lastly, constructing several residential buildings, including a two-tower complex on the southeast corner of Grand Avenue and 1st Street, designed by Frank Gehry.

Because of its convenient location, developments are being built in Hyde Park. Construction includes an expansion of Hyde Park Village, an upscale shopping and dining destination, as well as multifamily residential developments.

The Tampa Convention Center is a mid-sized convention center located in downtown Tampa, Florida at the mouth of the Hillsborough River. It has both waterfront views of Tampa Bay and views of the city's skyline. Harbour Island is across the eponymous bridge on the other side of the Garrison Channel. The center is connected to the neighboring Channelside District and Ybor City via the TECO Line Streetcar, which has a station across the street. The center opened in 1990 and encompasses 600,000 square feet (56,000 m2) in total. It has a 200,000 square feet (19,000 m2) exhibit hall, a ballroom capable of accommodating over 2,000 guests, and 36 meeting rooms that can be adjusted to various sizes. The facility hosts over 100 events per year.
SoHo Tampa, short for "South Howard Avenue (Tampa)" is a residential district within the Hyde Park neighborhood of Tampa. Some of the main cross streets are Kennedy Boulevard, Cleveland Street, Platt Street, and Swann Avenue. The area has historic architecture and is within walking distance of Bayshore Boulevard where it terminates. The much praised Bern's Steak House is located in the district. Other high-end restaurants and nightlife venues are located here. Other offerings are high-end locally owned clothing boutiques, art galleries, dessert cafes, and a Starbucks. One of only three Publix GreenWise Markets is also located in the district. As of 2009, small companies have sprung up utilizing NEVs to shuttle clubgoers between core neighborhoods including SoHo and Channelside.
Robert Francis Buckhorn Jr. is an American politician who served as the mayor of Tampa, Florida from 2011 to 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party who also served two terms on the Tampa City Council.
Ice District is a $2.5 billion mixed-use sports and entertainment district being developed on 10 hectares of land in Downtown Edmonton and a portion of the neighbourhood of Central McDougall. Its main attraction is Rogers Place, the home arena of the Edmonton Oilers professional ice hockey team. When completed the area will be Canada's largest mixed-use and entertainment district. The developers of the district are the Katz Group and the ONE Development Group. On July 13, 2015, it was announced that the area of the city surrounding the arena from 101 and 104 Street to 103 and 106 Avenue would be referred to as "Ice District" – a name created by Daryl Katz.
Stantec Tower is a 66-story building and 4 underground, 250.8 m (823 ft) mixed-use skyscraper in Ice District in the downtown core of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. On May 23, 2018, it reached a construction height of 197 m (646.3 ft) and surpassed the JW Marriott Edmonton Ice District & Residences, becoming the tallest building in Edmonton and one of the largest mixed-use projects in Canada. The office area of the tower opened on September 26, 2018, and the residential portion opened in 2019.
The JW Marriott Edmonton Ice District & Residences is a mixed-use skyscraper in Edmonton, Alberta as part of the downtown Ice District. It is a combination of a JW Marriott hotel in the lower section, with residential condos named Legends Private Residences in the upper section. Construction began in November 2014 and the hotel opened on 1 August 2019. The tower became the tallest building in Edmonton on 3 November 2017 and held that status until it was surpassed by the Stantec Tower in May 2018, en route to topping out its 56th floor at its final height of 192 metres (630 ft) on 20 March 2018.
Front & York is a full-block residential building at 85 Jay Street in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City. CIM Group and LIVWRK developed the building, and Morris Adjmi Architects designed it.
