Wayanad Township is a proposed township in , Wayanad district, Kerala, India. The township, which is planned to be built on 64 hectares in the Kalpetta Elston Estate, is a township planned by the Central, [1] Kerala governments [2] and charity organizations to restore the villages destroyed by the Wayanad landslide and to provide shelter to families who survived the 2024 Wayanad landslides. [3] [4] The township is planned to be built in two phases. The township project will build 1,000 square feet of houses for those who lost their homes. [5] [6]
This is a township project of the Kerala government to rehabilitate the survivors of the Wayanad landslide in Wayanad Kerala. This township is planned in Elstone Estate in Meppadi in Wayanad district and its initial works are planned to start in March 2025. [7] [8] This township has been proposed on the basis of the Kerala Cabinet meeting. The first phase of Elstone Estate, located in the municipal area. Based on the list of disaster-affected families prepared by the Wayanad district, the Wayanad District Collector has included 430 families in this township. In this township, each beneficiary has been reorganized into 7 cent plots. [9]
