Weediquette is a documentary television series following Vice Media correspondent Krishna Andavolu as he chronicles the science, culture, and economics of the legalization of marijuana.

History

Weediquette started in 2012 as a weekly column by Abdullah Saeed, then continued as a Vice.com web series in 2013. During a 2014 interview with José Mujica, Andavolu smoked a joint with President of Uruguay. [1]

When the Viceland channel launched in February 2016, Weediquette transitioned to television, airing three seasons through 2017.

A member of the Broad Front coalition of left-wing parties, Mujica was Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries from 2005 to 2008 and a Senator afterwards. As the candidate of the Broad Front, he won the 2009 presidential election and took office as president on 1 March 2010. He was the Second Gentleman of Uruguay from 13 September 2017 to 1 March 2020, when his wife Lucia Topolansky was vice president under his immediate predecessor and successor, Tabaré Vázquez.

Viceland was a Canadian pay television channel. It was owned by Vice Network Canada, Inc., which was owned by Rogers Media with minority ownership by Vice Media. It was a Canadian version of Viceland, broadcasting lifestyle-oriented documentary and reality series aimed towards a young adult demographic.

It was organized by Portland NORML, the local chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, having originated from its executive director, who wanted to photograph himself in front of the White Stag sign in the moments after Oregon Ballot Measure 91 took effect. Gaycation is a 2016 American television documentary series hosted by Elliot Page and Ian Daniel. The series premiered on 2 March 2016 on Viceland as part of its new programming launch. The series explores LGBTQ cultures around the world, as Page and Daniel meet different people during their travels and hear their stories.

Vice News Tonight is an American news program that aired on Vice TV on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. It was originally broadcast on HBO as the channel's first-ever daily series, premiering October 10, 2016. HBO cancelled the series after three seasons, ending September 2019. The program was relaunched in 2020 on the Vice TV network. In April 2023, Vice announced that Vice News Tonight would be cancelled, with its final show airing on May 25.

Abdullah Saeed is a Pakistani-American writer, producer, composer, and journalist. He produced and hosted several TV shows and documentaries for Vice.
