Mingo County is a county in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 26,839. Its county seat and largest city is Williamson. Created in 1895, Mingo is West Virginia's newest county, named for the historic Iroquoian Mingo people.

The flat hilltop is unusual to eastern Kentucky and was created by the preglacial Teays River which existed in ancient times and flowed in the opposite direction of the Ohio River.

Its other neighbor is Huntington, West Virginia, which lies across the Ohio River; it is connected via the West Huntington Bridge. Burlington was once the leading community of Lawrence County, being the first county seat and the location of the county's first post office.

It is also included in the larger Pittsburgh–New Castle–Weirton, PA–OH–WV Combined Statistical Area.
