Background

Winter Is Coming is an annual professional wrestling television special held in December by All Elite Wrestling (AEW) since 2020. The title "Winter Is Coming" is derived from Game of Thrones , a television series from HBO, which is part of Warner Bros. Discovery, which also includes AEW broadcast partners TBS and TNT. [1] On November 16, 2024, it was announced that the fifth Winter Is Coming would be held on December 11, 2024, at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. [2]

Storylines

Winter Is Coming will feature professional wrestling matches that involved different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. [3] Storylines are produced on AEW's weekly television programs, Dynamite, Rampage , and Collision.

It will be the fifth annual Grand Slam event and will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland, marking AEW's first event in Australia. This subsequently breaks Grand Slam's tradition of being held as a two-part television special at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City in late September.

The 2025 Fight for the Fallen is an upcoming professional wrestling television special produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). It will be the sixth Fight for the Fallen charity event and will be held on New Year's Day on January 1, 2025, at the Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina and will air live as a special episode of Wednesday Night Dynamite on TBS in the United States as well as the streaming service Max globally. This will be the company's first event to be simulcast on television and Max, with all future AEW television programs to be simulcast on Max. The event will help support victims of Hurricane Helene, which greatly affected the Asheville area in September 2024.
