Women's College AMU, Aligarh is a college of Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh. It was established in 1906 by Dr. Sheikh Abdullah (Papa Mian) and his wife Waheed Jahan Begum. Originally located at Upper Court, Aligarh, in 1921 it became a high school and in 1922 gained Intermediate College status. In 1937 it became an undergraduate college and affiliated to the Aligarh Muslim University. Presently, Prof. (Mrs.) Naima Khatoon is the Principal of Women's College.

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is an Indian public central university. It was originally established by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875. The College became Aligarh Muslim University in 1920. The main campus of AMU is located in the city of Aligarh. It has its three off-campus centres at Malappuram (Kerala), Murshidabad and Kishanganj (Bihar). The university is an Institute of National Importance provided under the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution at its commencement.

Uttar Pradesh State in India

Uttar Pradesh is a state in northern India. With over 200 million inhabitants, it is the most populous state in India as well as the most populous country subdivision in the world. It was created on 1 April 1937 as the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh during British rule, and was renamed Uttar Pradesh in 1950. The state is divided into 18 divisions and 75 districts with the capital being Lucknow. The main ethnic group is the Hindavi people, forming the demographic plurality. On 9 November 2000, a new state, Uttarakhand, was carved out from the state's Himalayan hill region. The two major rivers of the state, the Ganga and Yamuna, join at Allahabad (Prayagraj) and then flow as the Ganga further east. Hindi is the most widely spoken language and is also the official language of the state.

Sheikh Abdullah was an Indian lawyer, educationalist and women social reformer. He was a co-founder of Women's College, Aligarh and Aligarh Muslim University and known as Papa Miya. He was a recipient of the civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan in 1964.

Approximately 2500 women students including overseas students are studying in Women's College, Aligarh Muslim University, in different faculties. Women's College has a total strength of 113 teaching staff and 75 non-teaching staff.

Roohi Zuberi Social Worker, Indian politician

Roohi Zuberi is a social worker, who has been fighting for women's rights for more than three decades. Her family has a long political and social lineage, she is also an active politician herself and works with the Indian National Congress.
Zuberi had served as a Senior Cabinet Member in the Aligarh Muslim University. Afterwards, she became Vice President and also President of the Students' Union.

Satish Kumar is an Indian politician and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He won the Indian general elections, 2014 from the Aligarh constituency of Uttar Pradesh.

Filmsaaz is an international short film festival begun in 2008 by the University Film Club, Aligarh Muslim University. Until the fifth edition of the festival in 2012, it was a national-level competition, but beginning with the sixth edition in 2013, the festival was opened to international entries. Since its inception, the university's Kennedy Auditorium has been used as the festival's screening venue.

Aligarh Muslim University Act was enacted in the year 1920 by the imperial legislation. The Act was amended in 1951 in order to do away with the Islamic teachings. The Act was amended in 1967 which was challenged in Azeez Basha case. In 2005 Allahabad High Court quashed Aligarh Muslim University Amendment Act, 1981, was unconstitutional and that the AMU was not a minority institution and, therefore, the notification issued by the Human Resource Development Ministry in February, permitting the university to reserve seats for Muslims in post-graduate medical courses was illegal.

The Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University is the law school of the Aligarh Muslim University which has a history of over 100 years of teaching and writing law.

Siddons Union Club, commonly referred to as 'The Siddons Union', was established in the year 1884 at Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College, the present day Aligarh Muslim University. The club was named after Henry George Impey Siddons, the first principal of the college. the Siddons Debating Union Hall, the debating chamber, was constructed which consist of a debating hall, a library and a reading room. The Cambridge Union Society gave birth to debating societies of the prominent universities of the world namely Oxford Union, Yale Political Union. Siddons Union Club hosted a number of National and International Politicians, Writers, Nobel Laureates, Players, and Journalists, including the Dalai Lama, Mahatma Gandhi, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Jawahar Lal Nehru.

Muslim University Riding Club (MURC) established as M.A.O. College riding school is a 130 year old club of the Aligarh Muslim University. The players of the club have also featured in the London magazine in 1974. MURC is the only riding club in a university in India. It also has a strong 19 member riding squad. Rashid Shaz is an Indian Islamic scholar, Writer, Activist and Professor of English at the Aligarh Muslim University, India. Prominent among his written works are: Idrak Zawal-e-Ummat, "lastam pokh", "kitabul Urooj", "Manfesto of United Islam".

Zarf is the annual college fest which was first started in the year 2011 organized by the students of Zakir Husain College Of Engineering and Technology which comes under Aligarh Muslim University stationed at Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. It is the largest annual Cultural, Literary and Technical festival of students in Aligarh Muslim University.
