Sharda University, Greater Noida, is a private university in Uttar Pradesh, established in 2009 under the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature Act No.14 of 2009 and is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) with the right to confer degrees as per Section 22(1) of the UGC Act,1956. It is part of the Sharda Group of Institutions [3] founded by Pradeep Kumar Gupta and Yatendra Kumar Gupta. The university also has sister branches in Agra and Uzbekistan.

Located in Delhi-NCR, the campus is spread over 63 acres hosts students from 95+ countries and offers 135+ UGC-recognized undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs in various fields, including Engineering, Management, Medical, Dental, Architecture, Design, Law, Computer Applications, Journalism & Mass Communication, Film & TV Production, Humanities, Basic Science, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Nursing and more.

History

Sharda University traces its origins to the establishment of the Sharda Group [3] in 1996. The group aims to provide high-quality education, health facilities, and skill development in various disciplines. Based on this ideology, Sharda University was formally established in the year 2009.

The university has expanded its reach through a variety of initiatives, such as the establishment of Sharda Hospital [4] , which contributes to healthcare education and services, and Sharda University campuses in Uzbekistan [5] and Agra [6] , broadening the university’s international and national footprint. In addition, Sharda World School [7] and Sharda Care Healthcity [8] were launched recently to integrate primary education and advanced healthcare in Sharda Group.

Leadership

Chancellor

Pradeep Kumar Gupta is the Chancellor of Sharda University and the Founder of Sharda Group. In 1995, he established the Sharda Education Trust, under which he began the first educational venture of the Sharda Group, Hindustan Institute of Science & Technology. In 1998, he opened another college in Agra, Anand Engineering College.

Pro Chancellor

Yatendra Kumar Gupta is Sharda University's Pro-Chancellor and Sharda Group's Co-Founder.

Vice-Chancellor

Dr.Sibaram Khara has been the Vice-Chancellor of Sharda University since 2020. He is an Electronics & Communication Engineer and editor of the International Journal of Research and Reviews in Next Generation Networks (IJRRNGN) (UK) and the International Journal of Research and Reviews in Wireless Sensor Networks (IJRRWSN) (UK).

Pro Vice-Chancellor

Dr.Parma Nand is the current Pro Vice-Chancellor of Sharda University. With over 27 years of experience in industry and academics, Dr. Parma Nand has published more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed international/national journals and conferences.

Registrar

Dr. Vivek Kumar Gupta is currently the Registrar of Sharda University, and his position involves a wide range of responsibilities. He is the Secretary of the Governing Body, Executive Council, Academic Council, and Planning Board and oversees the management of academic records, student registration, course scheduling, etc.

Sharda University offers 135+ UG, PG, Diploma, and Ph.D. Programmes in 12 Disciplines. Sharda University’s Undergraduate courses include B.Tech, BCA, B.Sc. (IT & CS), BBA, B.com Hons, B.com, B.Pharma, B.Sc, B.Sc. Hons, BPT, B.O., BDS, B.A., B.A. Hons., BA- LLB, BBA-LLB, B.Sc. Nursing, Bachelor of Architecture, B.Des, BVA, BJMC, BA Film & OTT Production, BSC Animation & VFX, and MBBS. The postgraduate courses include M.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.Com, MJMC, LLM, M.Sc., M.Sc. Nursing, M.Des, MPT, M.Pharm, MDS, and M.D.

In 2024, 11 Faculty Members from the university were been named among the top 2% of scientists worldwide [9] by Stanford University.

Rankings, Affiliations & Accreditation

Sharda University holds the NAAC A+ accreditation and was ranked 86th [10] in India by NIRF in 2024. Furthermore, a select few of Sharda University's Engineering programs have received accreditation from the NBA (National Board of Accreditation). Sharda University was ranked 3rd in North India by Times Engineering for its engineering programs. Sharda School of Pharmacy was ranked 68th in India by the NIRF in the pharmacy ranking in 2024. Sharda Online

Sharda Online [12] was launched by Sharda University in the year 2023 as an online learning platform. It offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The undergraduate course provided by Sharda online is BA- Political Science and the postgraduate courses are MCA and MBA. The specialisations available for an MBA are Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Finance, and Healthcare & Hospital Management.
