Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University (SRMU) is a private university in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was established in July 2012. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

The university was established in 2012 under UP State Govt. ACT 1. It holds recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) [8] and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). SRMU is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It offers courses approved by the Council of Architecture (COI), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), and Bar Council of India (BCI). [9]

In 2013, as a new government came into power, the university was formed again by combining the two on 5 January 2013.

The university has a satellite campus at Amethi too, which was established in 2016.

Sarvagya Singh Katiyar FRSC popularly known as S. S. Katiyar, was an Indian scientist specializing in enzymology, and the founder Director of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow. He is a former president of the Association of Indian Universities and a former vice chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur and Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology. He was honoured by the Government of India in 2003 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award, followed by Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, in 2009.

Shambhu Dayal Sinvhal was an Indian mathematician, astronomist and a former vice chancellor of Kumaon University. Born on 20 November 1923 at Indore in the largest Indian state of Madhya Pradesh to B. D. Sinvhal and Tara Devi, he started his career as a member of the faculty of the department of mathematics and astronomy at Lucknow University in 1946 where he worked till 1954. During this period, he secured a doctoral degree (PhD) in mathematics from Lucknow in 1951. In 1954, he resigned from the university to take up the post of an assistant astronomer at Uttar Pradesh State Observatory and became its director in 1960, a post he held till his superannuation 1978. He also worked as a professor at the University of Rourkee at the department of Earth Sciences. In 1978, he was appointed as the vice chancellor of Kumaon University.

Mohan Chandra Pant (1956–2015) was an Indian radiation oncologist, institution builder and the founder vice chancellor of the H. N. B. Uttarakhand Medical Education University, Dehradun. He served as the Director of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, and was the Dean and head of the Radiotherapy Department at the King George's Medical University at the time of his death. He received the Dr. B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian award in the medical category, from the Medical Council of India in 2005. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2008, for his contributions to medicine.

Ranbir Chander Sobti is an Indian educationist, cell biologist. He is a former vice chancellor of the Panjab University, Chandigarh and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow. He is known to have involved in advanced research in plant genetic studies and has written over 240 articles, and 22 books including Essentials of Biotechnology and Emerging Trends in Biomedical Science and Health. He is an elected Fellow of several major science academies such as Indian National Science Academy, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, National Academy of Medical Sciences, National Academy of Sciences, India, and Punjab Academy of Sciences. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Literature and Education.
