Arunachal Pradesh is gradually improving with several plans and projects being initiated by both state and central government. Furthermore, there are local NGOs in the state who have undertaken several projects to bring about awareness among the people about the importance of literacy on in far-flung areas. The average literacy rate in Arunachal Pradesh is 82.93% as of the latest report for December 2020. This article provides an outline of the Arunachal Pradesh Education system.

School education

School Education in Arunachal Pradesh follows uniform structure of 10+2 system. The primary stage of schooling consists of Standard I to V, the middle stage from Standard VI to VIII and the Secondary Stage comprises Standard IX to X. Classes XI-XII falls under the higher secondary education stage. In order to universalize elementary education in Arunachal Pradesh, state government offers free education to students up to the age of 14. The state is home to a number of Pre-Primary Schools, Primary School, Middle Schools, High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools.

Ramakrishna Mission School, Narottam Nagar, Deomali is one of the most prestigious school in Arunachal Pradesh.

Higher education

Arunachal Pradesh has a few renowned institutes that offer higher education in the state. Among them North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) play a very significant role in raising the technical and management education in the state. In last recent months one more tag of higher education has been attached with the list of institutions of higher education in Arunachal Pradesh named Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University and Himalayan University that are established under the UGC act 1956 section 2 f and with Arunachal Pradesh State Assembly Gazette approval. [1] [2] Another premier educational institution in the state of Arunachal Pradesh is Rajiv Gandhi University. Institutes offering higher education in Arunachal Pradesh consist of three universities one deemed university and several recognized professional colleges.

Wangcha Rajkumar Government College, Deomali is the sole college in the southeastern part of Arunachal Pradesh (Tirap and Longding), it is affiliated to this university.

Only the following institutes of higher education are accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council), in the order of their grade: Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat (Grade A), St Claret College, Ziro (Grade A), Indira Gandhi Govt. College, Tezu (Grade B++), Rajiv Gandhi University (Grade B), National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh (Grade B), Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar (Grade B), Govt. College, Bomdila (Grade B), Donyi Polo Govt. College, Kamki (Grade B), and Rang Frah Govt. College, Changlang (Grade C).

Medium of instruction

English is the primary medium of instruction in various schools of Arunachal Pradesh. Also the colleges and universities as well as other professional institutes in the state use English as the medium of teaching.

Additionally, Coffee Board of India maintains a 26 acres coffee plantation in Deomali. The town is 250km from state capital Itanagar, 43km from district headquarter Khonsa, 30km from Margherita, 33km from Naharkatia, 46km from Tinsukia, 73km from Dibrugarh and 455km from Guwahati.

Pondicherry University, also known as PU, is a central research university located in Kalapet, Pondicherry in Union Territory of Puducherry, India. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Education in Kerala</span> Aspect of Indian society

The importance and antiquity of education in Kerala are underscored by the state's ranking as among the most literate in the country. The educational transformation of Kerala was triggered by the efforts of the Church Mission Society missionaries, who were the pioneers that promoted mass education in Kerala, in the early decades of the 19th century. The local dynastic precursors of modern-day Kerala—primarily the Travancore Royal Family, the Nair Service Society, Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam and Muslim Educational Society (MES)—also made significant contribution to the progress on education in Kerala. Local schools were known by the general word kalaris, some of which taught martial arts, but other village schools run by Ezhuthachans were for imparting general education. Christian missionaries and British rule brought the modern school education system to Kerala. Ezhuthu palli was the name used in earlier times. The word was derived from the schools run by the Buddhist monasteries. For centuries villages used to setup an ezhuthupally or ashan pallikoodam with one or two teachers. Students used to go this school from nearby areas and learn languages, literature, mathematics, grammar etc. After completing this students may continue study about specific subjects such as ayurveda, astrology, accounting etc. Censuses during 1800 shows that Travancore, Cochin, Kannur areas have many such schools. Even name list of ashans were used to be published along with the census.

Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) is the oldest university in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is located at Rono Hills in Doimukh town, about 28km from the state capital, Itanagar. The foundation stone for the university was laid in 1984 by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The university was renamed as Rajiv Gandhi University in 2005 when UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was on a visit to the state.

Provision of education in the UAE began shortly after the establishment of the federation with the inception of the first university in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates University. Since then, the country has progressed with efforts of ensuring high literacy rates, modern programs and women's share in education. It works on improving its youths education which is why the agenda 2021 has been set. The UAE currently devotes approximately 25 percent of total federal government spending to education. As of 2019, the overall literacy rate is 96%.

The state of Uttar Pradesh had a small tradition of learning, although it had remained mostly confined to the elite class and the religious establishment.

Education is based on three-tier model which includes primary schools, followed by secondary schools and tertiary education at universities or other institutes of same level. The RTE right to education states that children from the age of 6 to 14 have to compulsorily be educated. 25% of the seats in all private schools are also reserved for the under-privileged children. Tertiary education is administrated by the Directorate of Higher Education.

Saint Claret College, Ziro (SCCZ) is a Catholic undergraduate college established in the Himalayan foothills at Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh, India. Founded in 2003, SCCZ is served by Claretian Missionaries, a Roman Catholic Order founded by St. Anthony Mary Claret and that serves in 64 countries. Saint Claret College at Ziro is permanently affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Central University, Itanagar. SCC is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is accredited with "A" Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore. SCCZ offers Bachelor of Arts, B. A., and B. Com, besides several certificate courses.

Government degree colleges in India are public-sector educational institutes managed primarily through rules and regulations of government accompanied by University Grants Commission (India) (UGC). Education in India has been categorized into elementary, secondary and higher education. The aim behind the formation of the government degree colleges is to provide higher education to undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral research scholars in various streams and courses recognized by UGC of India. Presently, the standards have been set up for the classifications of the institutes in 2 (f) and 12 (b) category, which is certified by the UGC, New Delhi to maintain the excellence in higher education. The government degree colleges are fully managed by government, either central or at state level, and affiliated to the universities for course structures. Moreover, the government degree college as the institute of higher education, are administered and controlled by the principal, who serves as the head. Teachers are appointed through Public Service Commissions of central and state governments. The teachers appointed through the public service commissions are government servants with Group A post and are gazetted in nature. Education is the matter of concurrent lists in India; the government from the centre or from the states has the right to formulate law on higher education.

Himalayan University, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, India, is a non-profit university recognized by University Grant Commission, Government of India under section of 2f of UGC act 1956. The university was established to develop and uplift the economy through higher education to raise the literacy rate that make up especially North Eastern part of India as well as all other parts of India. The University is accredited and recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Pharmacy Council of India (P.C.I), Bar Council of India (B.C.I), Rehabilitation Council of India (R.C.I) and is also a member of AIU, AIMA, CII.

Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University (IGTAMSU), is a private university located in Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh providing higher education in nursing, yoga, paramedical, physiotherapy, management, law. The University was established in 2012, when the Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh passed Indira Gandhi Technological And Medical Sciences University Act 2012. The Indira Gandhi Technological And Medical Sciences University is accredited and recognized by the University Grants Commission under the section of 2(f) of UGC Act 1956.

Indira Gandhi Government College, Tezu, established in 1986, is a general degree college in Tezu, Arunachal Pradesh. It offers undergraduate courses in science, arts and commerce. It is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University.

Donyi Polo Government College, Kamki, established in 1996, is a general degree college at Kamki, West Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh. It offers undergraduate courses in arts and commerce. It is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University.
