Gujarat is a state along the western coast of India. Its coastline of about 1,600 km (990 mi) is the longest in the country, most of which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula. Gujarat is the fifth-largest Indian state by area, covering some 196,024 km2 (75,685 sq mi); and the ninth-most populous state, with a population of 60.4 million in 2011. The Western Railway is one of the 19 zones of Indian Railways and is among the busiest railway networks in India, headquartered at Mumbai, Maharashtra. The major railway routes of Indian Railways which come under Western Railways are: Mumbai Central–Ratlam, Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad and Palanpur–Ahmedabad. The railway system is divided into six operating divisions: Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Ratlam, and Mumbai WR. Vadodara railway station, being the junction point for the Ahmedabad–Mumbai route and the Mumbai–Ratlam route towards New Delhi, is the busiest junction station in Western Railways and one of the busiest junctions of Indian Railways too, while Ahmedabad Division earns highest revenue followed by Mumbai Division and Vadodara Division. Surat railway station is one of the busiest railway station in Western Railway in non-junction category where more than 180 trains pass per day.

Sardar Patel University (SPU) is a public state university in Vallabh Vidyanagar, a Anand City Gujarat, India. It is named after the iron man of India Vallabhbhai Patel, and was founded in October 1955 by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of the then-Bombay Province and was UGC recognized under 2(f) of the UGC Act in October 1968. Originally, it had the status of a rural university but now it has diversified with the motto of "Excellence Matters".

Vallabh Vidyanagar, also known as V.V.Nagar, is a town and a Anand Municipal Corporation in Anand district in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is located between Ahmedabad and Vadodara, 6 km (3.7 mi) from the town of Anand. V.V.Nagar is renowned as an educational hub of Gujarat and is home to the prestigious Sardar Patel University.

Anand Agricultural University (AAU) is a public state agricultural university is located in the western Indian state of Gujarat between the cities of Vadodara and Ahmedabad. This was formerly the Anand Campus of Gujarat Agricultural University, which is now independent. It has three constituent colleges, for agriculture, veterinary science and animal husbandry and dairy science. The jurisdiction of the university covers Kheda, Anand, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Dahod and Panchmahal districts. It was set up to provide education support to the farming community in areas such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Engineering, Information technology and Business Studies.

The Gujarat Samachar is the leading Gujarati-language daily newspaper published in India. Its headquarters are in Ahmedabad with a branch in Surat. It is distributed from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Mumbai, Mehsana, Bhuj and New York City.

In India, Institute of National Importance (INI) is a status that may be conferred on a premier public higher education institution by an act of the Parliament of India for such institutions which, "serve as a pivotal player in developing highly skilled personnel within the specified region of the country or state." Institutes of National Importance receive special recognition, higher autonomy, and direct funding from the Government of India. Some of India's highest ranked universities, including all of the Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology, All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research, Indian Institutes of Information Technology and Indian Institutes of Management, have this status.

Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, abbreviated GSRTC, is a Government State Transport Undertaking of Gujarat for passengers facilitating with road public transport in moffusil / city services. GSRTC operates within the state of Gujarat, India and neighboring states. It has a fleet of 8703 buses.

Hasmukh Chandulal Patel was an architect credited with making significant contributions to contemporary architecture in India in a career spanning over four decades in the latter half of 20th century. His works are held in high-regard alongside those of prominent Indian architects in the post-independence era like Achyut Kanvinde, Charles Correa, Anant Raje, B.V. Doshi and others.

Parul University is a private university in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. Prior to its incorporation as Parul University under the Gujarat Private Universities Act Second Amendment of 2009, the University’s origins traces back to 1993, with the establishment of the Ahmedabad Homeopathic College. Parul University is situated on a 150-acre campus in Vadodara housing over 50,000 students and has a rich history of achievements, including being Gujarat’s first self-financed institute. Since inception, the University adopted an expansionist strategy that led to the establishment of campuses beyond its original location in Ahmedabad to cities such as Rajkot and culminated in Vadodara in 2003, where the main campus was subsequently established and further plans to expand in North India by opening its career counselling centre in Chandigarh.

Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) is a joint venture company between the Government of India and Government of Gujarat. It was established on February 4, 2010, with an initial investment of ₹202 crore (approximately US$25 million). The company is headquartered in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.

Ramesh Sumant Mehta was an Indian educator and environmental and sanitary engineer. Born to social worker parents, he was educated in civil and sanitary engineering. He did pioneering work in the field of water supply, drainage, waste management and pollution control in India. Along with his advisory roles, he served with several educational institutes in various capacities.

Local elections were held in the Indian state of Gujarat in 2021. Elections were held for 8,235 seats, with 237 seats having only one unopposed candidates. No form was filled for two seats in Taluka panchayat. The elections included six municipal corporations where elections took place in February — Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar – and one (Gandhinagar) in which the elections were held on 3 October. Results to Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation were declared on 5 October 2021.
