Gujarat is a state along the western coast of India. Its coastline of about 1,600 km (990 mi) is the longest in the country, most of which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula. Gujarat is the fifth-largest Indian state by area, covering some 196,024 km2 (75,685 sq mi); and the ninth-most populous state, with a population of 60.4 million. It is bordered by Rajasthan to the northeast, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu to the south, Maharashtra to the southeast, Madhya Pradesh to the east, and the Arabian Sea and the Pakistani province of Sindh to the west. Gujarat's capital city is Gandhinagar, while its largest city is Ahmedabad. The Gujaratis are indigenous to the state and their language, Gujarati, is the state's official language.

Mehsana, also spelled Mahesana, is a city and municipality in Mehsana district, in the Indian state of Gujarat. Established in 14th century, the city was under Gaekwads of Baroda State from 18th century to the independence of India in 1947. The municipality was established in 1919–20. The town has population of about 185,000. Dairy, oil and natural gas are major industries while there are several small and medium enterprises in the city.

The Gujarat University is a public state university located at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The university is an affiliating university at the under-graduate level and a teaching university at the post graduate level. It is accredited B++ by NAAC. It was established on 23 November 1949.

Vinod Kinariwala was an Indian independence activist from Ahmedabad, India. He was shot dead by a British officer while waving the Indian flag in front of Gujarat College on 9 August 1942, the first day of the Quit India movement started by Mahatma Gandhi. The British officer asked him to drop the flag Refused to do so. He was later shot dead by an officer. He was 18 years old at the time of his death.

RK University (RKU) is a private university in Rajkot, Gujarat, India. It was created by the state of Gujarat under the Private State University Act by a gazetted notification dated 12 October 2011, along with three other universities. On Rajkot-Bhavnagar Highway, in a campus of nearly 100 acres, RK University has been functioning as RK Group of Colleges since 2005, offering degrees in engineering, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and in management studies. Silver Oak College of Engineering and Technology, is an engineering college located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
Indumati Chimanlal Sheth was an Indian independence activist, politician, social worker and educationist from Gujarat. Born in Ahmedabad and influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, she participated in the independence movement and later served as a deputy education minister of the Bombay State and education minister of Gujarat. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1970 for her social work.
