Anant National University (AnantU or ANU) is a private university [3] located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. It was established in 2016 by the Laxman Gyanpith Trust through The Gujarat Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2016. [4] The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in design, architecture and built environment.

History

The inception of Anant National University happened in 2011 when Anant Institute of Architecture, affiliated to Gujarat University, was established. In 2014, the Anant Institute of Planning was established, and was affiliated to Gujarat Technological University. In the next year 2015, the Anant Institute of Design was established in affiliation to Gujarat University.

Finally in 2016, it was granted the status of a private university, and Anant National University was established as India's first Design University. [5]

Academics

At the undergraduate level, the University offers a five-year, full-time Bachelor of Architecture programme, [6] and a four-year, full-time Bachelor of Design programme with specialisations in space design, interaction design, product design, communication design, environmental design, fashion and textile design, and trans-disciplinary design. In 2017, AnantU launched a fellowship program for built environment, a one-year, full-time, post-graduate diploma programme. [7] The University also offers two-year, full-time Master of Design programme with specialisations in integrated product design and urban design.

Affiliation

Like all private universities in India, AnantU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). [3] The Bachelor of Architecture programme is approved by the Council of Architecture (COA) for 88 seats. [8]

Awards

Anant National University’s flagship programme, Anant Fellowship, was recognised for its innovative pedagogy and curriculum by ET Now at the 2018 Making Of Developed India (MODI) Awards. [9]

The University Grants Commission of India is a statutory body set up by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education. Christ University Private deemed university in India

CHRIST , is a deemed to be university in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Founded in 1969 as an autonomous college, on 22 July 2008 it was declared as an institution deemed to be university under section 3 of UGC Act 1956 by the Ministry of Education (India). The University is under the management of the priests of the Catholic religious order, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), part of Syro Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church. Institute of Chemical Technology public deemed university in Mumbai, India

Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) is a state-funded deemed university in Mumbai, India. The institute also has campuses at Bhubaneswar, Odisha and Jalna, Marathwada. It is focused on training and research in fields of chemical engineering, chemical technology, and pharmacy. It was established in 1933 and was granted deemed university status in 2008, making it the only state-funded deemed university in India. On 12 February 2018 it was given status of Category 1 institute with graded autonomy by MHRD and UGC. Universities in India are recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which draws its power from the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. In addition, 15 Professional Councils are established, controlling different aspects of accreditation and coordination. Private universities in India are regulated under the UGC Regulations, 2003. Per the UGC act and these regulations, private universities are established by an act of a local legislative assembly and listed by the UGC in the Gazette upon receiving the act. As confirmed by ruling of the Supreme Court of India, recognition by the UGC is required for the university to operate. Also, per the 2003 regulations, the UGC sends committees to inspect the private universities and publishes their inspection report.

Charotar University of Science and Technology Science and tecnhology university in Gujarat, India

Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT) is established under the Gujarat Act No. 8 of 1995, Government of Gujarat. University Grants Commission (UGC) has empowered CHARUSAT to award Degrees under Section 22 of UGC Act 1956. Earlier campus was known as Education Campus Changa until 2009. CHARUSAT was accredited with grade A by NAAC in 2016.

GD Goenka University is a private university located in Sohna, Haryana, India. It was established in 2013 by the GD Goenka Group through The Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2013. The GD Goenka Group was founded by Shri A.K. Goenka. GD Goenka University is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) and is competent to award degrees as specified by UGC under section 22 of UGC Act, 1956.

The university was established in 2015 by the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) through The Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar Act, 2015, one of five Indian Institutes of Public Health established by PHFI and the first to be granted university status.
