The status of one institute, the National School of Drama, is unclear. Delhi also has an international university established by the eight member nations of South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC).

Jamia Millia Islamia is a public and research university located in Delhi, India. Originally established at Aligarh, United Provinces during the British Raj in 1920, it moved to its current location in Okhla in 1935. It was given the deemed status by the University Grants Commission in 1962. Jamia Millia Islamia became a central university by an act of the Indian parliament which was passed on 26 December 1988.
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, formerly Indraprastha University, is a state university located in Dwarka, Delhi, India. The university is organized around fourteen university schools and three university centers that focus on programs in law, medicine, technology, education, entrepreneurship, science and business.
Department of Higher Education is the department under Ministry of Education, that oversees higher education in India.
Central universities in India are public universities established by an Act of Parliament and are under the purview of the Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education, except for nine universities which are under the purview of other ministries. In general, universities in India are recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which draws its power from the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. In addition, 15 Professional Councils are established, controlling different aspects of accreditation and coordination. Central universities, in addition, are covered by the Central Universities Act, 2009, which regulates their purpose, powers, governance etc., and established 12 new universities. As of June 2023, the list of central universities published by the UGC includes 56 central universities.
Dwarka is a neighbourhood located in Southwestern edge of Indian Capital New Delhi in South West Delhi district of the NCT of Delhi. The district court that functions under the Delhi High Court for South West Delhi is located in Dwarka.
Satya Vrat Shastri was an Indian Sanskrit scholar, writer, grammarian and poet. He wrote three Mahakavyas, three Khandakavyas, one Prabandhakavyas and one Patrakavya and five works in critical writing in Sanskrit. His important works are Ramakirtimahakavyam, Brahattaram Bharatam, Sribodhisattvacharitam, Vaidika Vyakarana, Sarmanyadesah Sutram Vibhati, and "Discovery of Sanskrit Treasures" in seven volumes.
Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research, is a business school located in New Delhi, India. The school was established in 1999 by the Society for Human Transformation and Research (SHTR) and is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), is an all women's university located in Delhi, India on the heritage campus at Kashmere Gate, Delhi. It was founded as the Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology in 1998. In May 2013 it gained autonomy and became the first women's technical university in India established by Govt. of Delhi. The university offers BBA and BTech, MTech, and PhD programs in four branches of engineering i.e. in the field of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical and Automation Engineering and Information Technology. The university also offers 5 years program in Bachelors of Architecture (B.Arch.) and a 2-year post graduate program in M. Plan.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) is a ministry of the Government of India, responsible for the implementation of the National Policy on Education. The ministry is further divided into two departments: the Department of School Education and Literacy, which deals with primary, secondary and higher secondary education, adult education and literacy, and the Department of Higher Education, which deals with university level education, technical education, scholarships, etc.
Education is based on three-tier model which includes primary schools, followed by secondary schools and tertiary education at universities or other institutes of same level. Education Department of the Government of Delhi is a premier body which looks into the educational affairs. The RTE right to education states that children from the age of 6 to 14 have to compulsorily be educated. 25% of the seats in all private schools are also reserved for the under-privileged children. Tertiary education is administrated by the Directorate of Higher Education.
Mohammad Amin was an Indian historian. He was the vice chancellor of Jamia Hamdard; taught History at St. Stephen's College, Delhi University for four decades; and was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2010.
Anil Kumar Tyagi is former Vice Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Delhi. Prior to this he was co-ordinator of UGC- SAP Programme and head of Department of Biochemistry at South Campus of Delhi University and was Vice President of the Society of Biological Chemists, India from the year 2004 to 2006.
Abdul Lateef Azmi was an Urdu litterateur and among the close associates of the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia. He joined Jamia Millia as a student of B.A. in 1936 and served the university over 50 years in various capacities. He was one of the longest serving editors of Jamia Millia's official magazine, Jamia. He died in Delhi on May 11, 2002. In 1985, Maktaba Jamia, New Delhi, published a book Abdul Lateef Azmi Hayat-o-Khidmat. Several scholars contributed chapters in the book on various facets of Abdul Lateef Azmi and his life.
