The Women's Philippine Basketball League was a semi-professional women's basketball league in the Philippines. [1]

It was originally formed in 1998 as the women's counterpart to the Philippine Basketball League. The league went on hiatus from 2000 until it was revived in 2008. [2] [3] [4] The league was revived by Mikee Romero. [5]

However, the league quickly folded after that season. [1]

The league, at least for the 2008 season, was sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, the country's national basketball federation. [5]

Ever Bilena team of Dioceldo Sy dominated the league, winning all three seasons. [6] [7]

De La Salle University, also referred to as DLSU, De La Salle or La Salle, is a private, Catholic coeducational research university run by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in Taft Avenue, Malate, Manila, Philippines. It was established by the Christian Brothers in 1911 as the De La Salle College (DLSC) in Nozaleda Street, Paco, Manila with Blimond Pierre Eilenbecker, FSC serving as director, and is the first De La Salle school in the Philippines. The institution moved to its present location in 1921. Daniel Charles Seigle is a Filipino-American basketball coach and retired player. He is the head coach of the De La Salle Green Archers men's basketball team and a team consultant for the San Miguel Alab Pilipinas of the ASEAN Basketball League. He last played for the TNT KaTropa of the Philippine Basketball Association. He won the 1999 PBA Rookie of the Year and led San Miguel to six championships during his career. He is also a two-time member of the Philippine national basketball team.

Jeron Alvin Uy Teng is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Converge FiberXers of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). As a PBA player, he usually starts at the swingman position but occasionally plays as a power forward during the Philippine Cup. Pinay Ballers League, abbreviated as PiBaLeague, is a women's basketball league based in the Philippines. It was formed in 2014 by Ewon’s Sports Association, Inc., a group of local women's basketball stakeholders, They were led by former Adamson Falcons player Merenciana "Ewon" Arayi, captain of the Philippines women's national basketball team in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games. The PiBaLeague aims to give women basketball players, who have played on the national team or in collegiate leagues, a chance to play after college and start a semi-professional career.

Patrick Henry Aquino is a Filipino basketball coach who serves as the head coach of the Philippines women's national basketball team, he has been appointed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas since December 2014 when the team have a new corporate backer Ever Bilena, replacing long-time mentor Haydee Ong. This is the second time that Aquino has coached a national team, Aquino was once manned coaching duties for the Philippines women's national under-19 basketball team.
