Wright, also known as Wrights Cross Roads, is an unincorporated community in Lauderdale County, in the U.S. state of Alabama.
Wright was named for Moses Wright, a post rider on the Natchez Trace, who settled in the area and operated a general store. [2] In 1900, Wright was home to three stores, a mill, and cotton gin, and was a center of cross tie production. [3] A post office was in operation under the name Wright from 1891 to 1914. [4]

Its name is in honor of Colonel James Lauderdale, of Tennessee. Lauderdale is part of the Florence-Muscle Shoals, AL Metropolitan Statistical Area, also known as "The Shoals".

The Rosenbaum House is a single-family house designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and built for Stanley and Mildred Rosenbaum in Florence, Alabama. A noted example of his Usonian house concept, it is the only Wright building in Alabama, and is one of only 26 pre-World War II Usonian houses. Wright scholar John Sergeant called it "the purest example of the Usonian."
James Lauderdale (1768–1814) was an American militia officer who died during the War of 1812. A native of Botetourt County, Virginia, Lauderdale moved to Sumner County, Tennessee, as a young man. In 1813, he joined a unit of cavalry militia under General John Coffee. He later served under General Andrew Jackson and was wounded during the Battle of Talladega, during what was called the Creek War. He was then commissioned as a Lieutenant-Colonel of Volunteers, but died during the first Battle of New Orleans in December 1814.
