Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) is a business school in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. Established in 1987, XIMB is governed by the Government of India, the Government of Odisha, and the Jesuits. The school was founded under what the parties called a 'social contract' between the Government of Odisha and the Jesuits in Odisha, with Fr. Romuald D'Souza SJ being its founder-director. [2] XIMB has been part of the exclusive Super League of B-Schools (Top-10) in India – the highest tier rated by All India Management Association (AIMA). XIMB was ranked 10th in the prestigious Dare2Compete India's Top 10 Competitive B-Schools 2022. The institute was also ranked 1st in the state of Orissa Education World B-schools ranking 2020–21. The institute is known to carry out research and development activities regularly in collaboration with government departments in the state. [3] [4]
The academic programmes offered by XIM university follow the global model for management education. [5] XIMB confers MBA and PhD degrees through XIM University . Currently, XIMB offers MBA programmes in Business Management and Global Management, Executive MBA in Business Management and Business Analytics, and PhD programmes through XIM university. The PGDM programmes in Rural Management and Human Resource Management, previously offered by XIMB are now housed under two different schools of XIM University named as School of Rural Management (SRM) and School of Human Resource Management (SHRM). XIMB along with SHRM and SRM which are collectively known as Faculty of Management at XIM University have been granted the South Asian Quality Assurance Systems (SAQS) accreditation by the Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA) [17] [18] and the NBA Accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation. This will be the fifth World Trade Centre to be operationalized in India and the 344th in the world. It is developed by Populous (company). The center will consist of 200 room hotel, 50,000 sq ft of indoor exhibition hall, multipurpose convention hall to accommodate 4,000 delegates, small convertible meeting halls to host 12 to 16 events simultaneously, an open area to accommodate up to 25,000 people and an open amphitheater. Upon completion, the World Trade Center Bhubaneswar will be the tallest building in Odisha. The Convention Center will be connected to all nearby hotels and the World Trade Center through a skywalk. For now, the World Trade Center Bhubaneswar is functioning from IDCO Towers, in Janpath, Bhubaneswar.
XIM University is a Jesuit, Catholic university located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. It was authorized by the Odisha Legislative Assembly in 2013 making it the first Jesuit university in India. Drawing its legacy from Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar(XIMB), founded by the Jesuits in 1987, the university was facilitated by the Government of Odisha in 2013 and went on to be called XIM University with XIMB now being a constituent school offering only MBA-BM through XIM University. The other XIMB courses like HRM and RM are now continued by separate schools under XIM University. The sprawling XIM University campus is situated at Sundarpada jatani road near Jatani town in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. The Jesuits have more than 50 colleges and several hundred educational institutes in India but this is the first university they have founded in the country.
