YLE24 was a Finnish language TV channel broadcast by Yle. The unit was founded in 2000, and it was active from 2001 to 2007.
YLE24 simultaneously broadcast all the news programmes shown on Yle TV1 and TV2, with the following exceptions:
Important sporting events (such as the Olympic Games and the World Championships) and important political events (such as Parliamentary Question Time and the inauguration of the President of the Republic) could change the schedule.
Morning TV was also broadcast simultaneously on TV1 and YLE24. The Morning TV compilation programme, Today in the Headlines, was broadcast on TV2 earlier in the afternoon, but on YLE24 it was shown at 16.05. In addition, the channel's programme included repeats of current affairs programmes. Among others, A-studio and Ajankohtainen kakkonkonen as well as FST's OBS, 360 grader and Närbild were broadcast as reruns.
YLE24 also broadcast other news than its own, such as Euronews and SVT's Finnish-language news for Swedish Finns. When there was no programme on YLE24, the News Window was broadcast.
YLE24 was closed down by Yle on 26 April 2007. Its channel slot on digital TV was used to broadcast the now defunct YLE Extra channel. [1] The YLE24 unit continued as YLE News and its programming was transferred to other Yle channels. After the closure of YLE Extra, the channel YLE TV1+ was broadcast on the slot, which transmitted TV1 programmes at the same time as TV1 proper, but with fixed subtitles, while the other YLE channels used DVB-T subtitles. YLE TV1+ was closed on 4 August 2008. Today, the channel is hosted by Liv. [2]
Yleisradio Oy, abbreviated as Yle, translated into English as the Finnish Broadcasting Company, is Finland's national public broadcasting company, founded in 1926. It is a joint-stock company, which is 99.98% owned by the Finnish state and employs around 3,200 people in Finland. Yle shares many of its organisational characteristics with its British counterpart, the BBC, on which it was largely modelled.
Yle Fem was Yle's Finland-Swedish national television channel, providing television programmes in the Swedish language in Finland. It was a public-service channel principally intended for Finland's Swedish-speaking minority. Creating understanding over the language and culture border was also one of the channel's recognized objectives.
MTV3 is a Finnish commercial television channel owned and operated by the media company MTV Oy, originally launched in 13 August 1957 as a programming block, becoming its own channel on 1 January 1993. It had the biggest audience share of all Finnish TV channels until Yle TV1 took the lead. MTV actually stands for Mainos-TV, due to the channel carrying advertising for revenue. Number 3 was added later, when the channel was allocated the third nationwide television channel and it generally became known as "Channel Three"—Finnish Broadcasting Company's Yle TV1 and Yle TV2 being the first two—and also to distinguish it from the later MTV Finland, which is a Finnish version of Paramount's MTV channel. From 1957 until 2001, the channel's logo was a stylised owl, changed to an owl's eye after an image renewal in 2001, which was then used until 2013. MTV3 has about 500 employees. It is also known as Maikkari. From 1986 to 1993, Kolmoskanava was a precursor to MTV3. It was shut down at midnight on December 31, and MTV3 immediately started broadcasting.
Television was introduced in Finland in 1955. Color television started in 1969 and was introduced gradually, with most programs in color by the late 1970s. All terrestrial analogue stations stopped broadcasting on 1 September 2007 after the introduction of digital television; cable providers were allowed to continue analog broadcasting in their networks until 1 March 2008.
Sveriges Television AB, shortened to SVT, is the Swedish national public television broadcaster, funded by a public service tax on personal income set by the Riksdag. Prior to 2019, SVT was funded by a television licence fee payable by all owners of television sets. The Swedish public broadcasting system is largely modelled after the system used in the United Kingdom, and Sveriges Television shares many traits with its British counterpart, the BBC.

RTM TV1 is a Malaysian free-to-air public television channel owned and operated by Radio Televisyen Malaysia, a broadcasting department of the Malaysian Government. Launched on 28 December 1963, TV1 is the first and oldest TV station in Malaysia. The channel features mostly news, talk shows and documentaries and some in-house, local and international kids, drama and sports programming.
Yle Nyheter TV-nytt is the name of the daily television news programmes on the Swedish-speaking Finnish TV channel Yle Teema & Fem, at the Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle). The programme was also broadcast on TV Finland.
Yle TV1 is a Finnish television channel owned and operated by Finnish public broadcaster Yle. It is the second oldest and the oldest existing television channel in Finland. More than 70% of the channel's programs are documentaries, news, or educational programmes. Its name is commonly referred to as Ykkönen; it derives from Yle's ownership of channels Spots 1 and 2 by default in Finland; the other, spot 2 channel, is Yle TV2.

TV2 was launched in 1965 as the successor to the former television channels TES-TV (Tesvisio) and Tamvisio, and broadcasts public service programming, sports, drama, children's, youth, and music programmes. With Yle TV1, it is one of the three main television channels of Yle.
TV Finland is a Finnish free-to-air television channel broadcasting in Sweden. It was originally created broadcast in that country as part of a reciprocal agreement between the Finnish and Swedish governments that also established SVT Europa broadcasts in areas of Finland with Swedish-speaking populations.
Ođđasat is a Sámi television news programme broadcast in Norway, Sweden and Finland. Jointly produced by NRK, SVT and Yle, the public service broadcasters in their respective countries, the programme is presented from NRK's studio in Norway. When the production of the programme began, its titles and graphics were different from NRK's domestic television news bulletins. In around 2008, the programme saw a new look; while it still differed from the revamped look of the rest of NRK's bulletins at the time, the lower thirds were set in the same grid of graphics that NRK's bulletins used. It also utilised the Neo Sans typeface for its presentation. In mid-2015, about a month after NRK's domestic bulletins revamped their look, Ođđasat followed with the new NRK news intro corporate look and theme music.
YLE Extra was a Finnish television channel owned and operated by Yle. The channel launched on 27 April 2007. It replaced YLE24. YLE Extra ceased broadcasting on 1 January 2008 and was replaced by YLE TV1+, a temporary channel which broadcasts Yle TV1 with fixed subtitles.
Digital terrestrial television in Finland was launched on August 21, 2001. The analogue networks continued its broadcasts alongside the digital ones until September 1, 2007, when they were shut down nationwide.
Yle Uutiset is the Finnish news production unit of Yle. Yle Uutiset also produces news in Northern Sámi, Swedish, Russian, Ukrainian and English. News in the other official language of Finland, Swedish, is produced by Svenska Yle.
Taavi Vartia is a Finnish Film director, script writer and writer. Taavi Vartia has since 1990 planned, directed and produced programmes for all of Finland's national television channels: YLE TV1, YLE TV2, MTV3 and Nelonen, across a range of genres including drama, entertainment, music, profiles and documentaries. He has been involved in the production of over 1100 episodes. Vartia has also written and directed several company- and image videos for Finnish companies. In recent years he has received recognition as a writer of young adult dramas and as a documentary film maker. Vartia has published four novels. Vartia founded Taaborin kesäteatteri/ Taabori Summer Theater in Nurmijärvi 2009 and started to run the movie theatre Kino Juha 2019.
RTM TV2 is a Malaysian free-to-air public television channel owned and operated by the Radio Televisyen Malaysia, a broadcasting department of the Malaysian Government. Launched on 17 November 1969, TV2 is the second and second oldest TV station in Malaysia. The channel features mostly English, Mandarin and Tamil news and talk shows, the latter two languages were mainly produced for the dominant minority Chinese and Indian communities, whilst the English news functions for the nation's multiracial population whose dominant lingua franca or first language is the latter. It also offers some in-house, local and international entertainment programs, including reality shows, films and dramas as well as sports programming.
Yle Teema & Fem is a Finnish free-to-air television channel owned by Finnish state-broadcaster Yle. It was launched on 24 April 2017, after Yle Teema and Yle Fem merged to this channel.
Tesvisio was the first television channel in Finland. It began regular broadcasts on March 21, 1956 and continued broadcasting until March 1965, when it was turned into Yle TV2.
