The first case of COVID-19 in the U.S. state of Oklahoma was reported on March 7, 2020, with the first confirmed COVID-19 death occurring on March 18. On December 17, Oklahoma public health authorities reported 2,975 new cases of COVID-19, for a cumulative total of 248,204 cases since the start of the pandemic. The state's death toll increased to 2,144, with 16 new deaths reported over the previous 24 hours. Since the beginning of June, the seven day moving average of new COVID-19 cases in Oklahoma has risen over 47-fold, from an average of 69 new cases per day on June 1 to 3,250 cases per day on December 17. Over the past two weeks December 4's 4,827 COVID-19 cases and December 2's 54 deaths set new single day records for Oklahoma, trends observed in many other US states over the past month.
