Bergen, historically Bjørgvin, is a city and municipality in Vestland county on the west coast of Norway. As of 2022, its population was roughly 289,330. Bergen is the second-largest city in Norway after national capital Oslo. The municipality covers 465 square kilometres (180 sq mi) and is located on the peninsula of Bergenshalvøyen. The city centre and northern neighbourhoods are on Byfjorden, 'the city fjord'. The city is surrounded by mountains, causing Bergen to be called the "city of seven mountains". Many of the extra-municipal suburbs are on islands. Bergen is the administrative centre of Vestland county. The city consists of eight boroughs: Arna, Bergenhus, Fana, Fyllingsdalen, Laksevåg, Ytrebygda, Årstad, and Åsane.
Hordaland was a county in Norway, bordering Sogn og Fjordane, Buskerud, Telemark, and Rogaland counties. Hordaland was the third largest county, after Akershus and Oslo, by population. The county government was the Hordaland County Municipality, which is located in Bergen. Before 1972, the city of Bergen was its own separate county, apart from Hordaland. On 1 January 2020, the county was merged with neighbouring Sogn og Fjordane county, to form the new Vestland county.
Bergen Airport, alternatively Bergen Flesland Airport or simply Flesland Airport, is an international airport located at Flesland in the city and municipality of Bergen, Vestland, Norway. Opened in 1955, it is the second-busiest airport in Norway, with 6,306,623 passenger operations in 2018. Flesland is operated by the state-owned Avinor. Until 1999, Flesland Air Station of the Norwegian Air Force was co-located at the airport.

Fana is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough makes up the southeastern part of the municipality of Bergen. The borough was once part of the historic municipality of Fana which was incorporated into Bergen in 1972. The old municipality was much larger than the present-day borough of Fana. It also included all of the present-day boroughs of Ytrebygda and Fyllingsdalen as well as the southern part of the present-day boroughs of Årstad. As of 1 January 2012, Fana had a population of 39,216.
Laksevåg is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough is located in the western part of the municipality. Historically, the area was called Laxevaag, and it was a separate municipality until 1972 when it was merged into Bergen.
Åsane is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough makes up the northern part of the city, north of the city centre.
Bergen Light Rail is a light rail system in Bergen, Norway. The first stage of the project was a twenty-station stretch between the city center and Nesttun, where the first 15 stations comprising a 9.8-kilometre (6.1 mi) stretch opened in 2010, and the second was a 3.6-kilometre (2.2 mi) stretch from Nesttun to Lagunen which opened in June 2013. A third stretch from Lagunen to Bergen Airport, Flesland opened in 2017. The second line between Kaigaten and Fyllingsdalen opened on 21 November 2022. Further plans for the project involve mooted extensions to Åsane and Storavatnet.
Nordåsvannet or Nordåsvatnet is a bay in Bergen Municipality in central Vestland county, Norway. Located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south of the centre of the city of Bergen, it separates the boroughs of Fana and Ytrebygda from the borough of Fyllingsdalen. Nordåsvannet has an area of about 5 square kilometres (1.9 sq mi), and is connected to the Grimstadfjorden at its far western end. The entire fjord, consisting of the Grimstadfjorden and Nordåsvannet, is known as the Fjøsangerfjorden. It is approximately 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) long.
Fana is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county in Norway. The municipality was located in the central part of the Bergen Peninsula, south of the city of Bergen. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Nesttun. The roughly 200-square-kilometre (77 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until 1972 when it had 44,402 residents, making it one of the most populous municipalities in the nation. The area of the former municipality encompassed the southern half of the present-day Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, it specifically included the present-day boroughs of Fyllingsdalen, Ytrebygda, and Fana, as well as the southern part of the borough of Årstad.

Fanafjorden is a fjord in the city-municipality of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The 8.5-kilometre (5.3 mi) long fjord is a fjord arm that branches off of the Korsfjorden fjord and cuts into the large Bergen Peninsula. The deepest point in the fjord reaches 160 metres (520 ft) below sea level. The fjord is located between the small Krokeide peninsula and the village area of Milde in Ytrebygda, and forms a natural boundary between the city boroughs of Fana and Ytrebygda. The urban area of Fanahammeren lies at the eastern end of the fjord.
Rådal is a neighborhood in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is located at the border between the boroughs of Fana and Ytrebygda. The center of the area is the shopping center Lagunen Storsenter. While the area has no official borders, it is regarded as the common name for the basic statistical units of Krohnåsen in Fana and Skeie, Siljustøl, and Holten in Ytrebygda. These had 5,967 residents in 2009 and covered 5.5 square kilometres (2.1 sq mi). The post address for Rådal also includes the areas Grimstad, Steinsvik, Nordås, Skjold, and Smørås.
Grimstadfjord or Grimstadfjorden is a small fjord in the municipality of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The 4-kilometre (2.5 mi) long fjord lies on the western side of the Bergen Peninsula, and it divides the Laksevåg and Ytrebygda boroughs of the city of Bergen. The Grimstadfjorden lies just north of Bergen Airport, Flesland and the Norwegian naval base Haakonsvern lies on the northern shore of the fjord. The lake Nordåsvannet flows to the west into this fjord and then this fjord flows west into the large Raunefjorden. The island of Bjorøy lies at the western mouth of the Grimstadfjorden.
Ytrebygda Church is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Blomsterdalen in the borough of Ytrebygda in the city of Bergen. It is one of two churches for the Fana parish which is part of the Fana prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The concrete and wood church was built in a rectangular style in 2011 using designs by the architectural firm ABO Plan & Arkitektur. The church seats about 210 people.
Herdla Airport was a military air base situated on the island of Herdla in Askøy, Norway. It consisted of two wooden runways, 1,000 and 850 meters long, respectively, in addition to wharfs for a water aerodrome.
Vestlandske Luftfartsselskap A/S, trading internationally as West Norway Airlines, was an airline based in Bergen, Norway, which operated from 1946 to 1957. The company operated almost entirely a fleet of seaplanes out of its base at Bergen Airport, Sandviken. From 1951 it operated scheduled services along the West Coast as summer-only services.
Hjellestad is a neighborhood of Bergen, Norway, situated in the borough of Ytrebygda. It is located on Mildehalvøyen, about 20 kilometers (12 mi) from the city center. From Hjellestad there is a ferry to Bjelkarøy, Lerøy and Klokkarvik. Bergen Airport, Hjellestad was situated there from 1948 to 1951.
Bergen Airport, Sandviken is a water airport and heliport situated in the Sandviken neighborhood of Bergen, Norway. The aerodrome is located on the artificial peninsula of Kristiansholm. It is currently serving seaplanes and helicopters operated by Fonnafly aimed at air taxi services at cruise ship tourists. The airport is owned by Bergen Municipality through Bergen Port Authority and is part of the Bergen Port. Operations are carried out by Fonnafly.
Flesland Air Station was a military air base situated at Flesland in Bergen, Norway. Part of the Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF), it shares a 2,990-meter (9,810 ft) runway with Bergen Airport, Flesland. The air station has since 1999 had a mobilization status and is only staffed by six employees. Its main structure is a subterranean hangar with space for 25 fighter jets.
