Zhengxu line of Zhengzhou Metro, formerly known as Line 17 of Zhengzhou Metro during planning, is a rapid transit line connecting Zhengzhou and Xuchang in Henan Province. It's also named as Line S1 in Zhengzhou Metropolitan Area Rail Transit network. [4] The line started service on 28 December 2023. [2] [1] [3]

Zhengzhou is the capital of Henan, China. Located in northern Henan, it is one of the nine national central cities in China, and serves as the political, economic, technological, and educational center of the province. The Zhengzhou metropolitan area is the core area of the Central Plains Economic Zone.

Zhengzhou–Wanzhou high-speed railway is a high-speed railway connecting Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, and Wanzhou District in Chongqing. The section between Zhengzhou East and Xiangyang East started operation on 1 December 2019. It connects with the Chongqing–Wanzhou intercity railway. The line forms part of the Hohhot–Nanning corridor. The section from Xingshan to Wanzhou also forms part of the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu high-speed railway.

The Zhengzhou subway flooding incident refers to the severe flooding that occurred on Zhengzhou Metro Line 5 on July 20, 2021, during a heavy rainstorm. Despite the weather, the metro line continued to operate, and rainwater broke through the retaining wall of the Wulongkou parking lot, flooding the train tunnel. Official reports from the government stated that the incident resulted in 14 deaths and 5 injuries. However, the death toll has been widely questioned because the trains were covered with black cloth during the subsequent search and rescue operations, preventing the inspection of their interiors.
