Dahyabhai Shastri is an Indian scholar of Sanskrit and the founder of Brahmarshi Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Nadiad. [1] [2] He is also a former president of the Gujarat state unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. [3] Born in Vasai Dabhla, a small village in Mehsana district of Gujarat and did his studies in Sanskrit in Ahmedabad and Varanasi, Shastri chairs the Veda Centre, Pardi. [4] He is known for contributions in interpreting Sanskrit grammar and literature and is a recipient of Gujarat State Award. [4] The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2016, for his contributions to Literature and education. [5]
The Padma Shri, also spelled Padma Shree, is the fourth-highest civilian award of the Republic of India, after the Bharat Ratna, the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan. Instituted on 2 January 1954, the award is conferred in recognition of "distinguished contribution in various spheres of activity including the arts, education, industry, literature, science, acting, medicine, social service and public affairs". It is awarded by the Government of India every year on India's Republic Day.

Sukhlal Sanghvi, also known as Pandit Sukhlalji, was a Jain scholar and philosopher. He belonged to the Sthanakvasi sect of Jainism. Pandit Sukhlal lost his eyesight at the age of sixteen on account of smallpox. However, he persisted and became profoundly versed in Jain logic and rose to become a professor at Banaras Hindu University. Paul Dundas calls him one of the most incisive modern interpreters of Jain philosophy. Dundas notes that Sanghavi represents what now seems to be a virtually lost scholarly and intellectual world. He was a mentor for famous Jain scholar Padmanabh Jaini. During his lifetime he won such awards as the Sahitya Akademi Award and won recognition from the Government of India by getting Padma Bhushan award. Sukhlalji was also known as Pragnachaksu because he was so vastly learned despite being visually disabled.
Shree Somnath Sanskrit University (SSSU) is a public university located in Gujarat, India. It was created by the Gujarat State government through the Shree Somnath Sanskrit University Act in 2005 for the research and teaching of Sanskrit literature, with objectives to preserve India’s cultural and linguistic heritage. The main campus in Veraval is home to seven departments, or faculties, which, together with 110 affiliated colleges, research institutes, and centers across Gujarat, award nine different degrees, including B.A., M.A., and PhD, in a variety of fields. Shree Somnath Sanskrit University publishes a quarterly research publication, Somajyoti, and organize regular workshops and conferences to promote discourse and research in Sanskrit language and culture.
Krishna Chandra Chunekar was an Indian ayurvedic practitioner and writer, known for the books he published, especially the translation of Vedic literature on herbal pharmacopeia. The Government of India awarded him, in 2013, the Padma Shri in medicine, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions.

Dalsukh Dahyabhai Malvania (1910–2000) was an Indian scholar, writer and philosopher, known for his writings on Jain, Buddhist and Hindu philosophies. He contributed to Jain literature with his writings on the scriptures of the Śvētāmbara sect of Jainism. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1992, for his contributions to literature and education.
P. N. Pattabhirama Sastri was an Indian philologist and scholar of Sanskrit literature and Vedas, known for his works on Sanskrit Philology and Mīmāṃsā or the hermenutics of the Vedas. He was the founder vice chancellor of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, a deemed university dedicated to Sanskrit studies. He was also the founder of a non governmental organization in Uttar Pradesh for the promotion of arts, culture and education, which is now known as Shri Pattabhirama Shastri Veda Mimansa Anusandhan Kendra. Vaidikaśikṣādarśanabindhuḥ, Āpastambaśrautasūtra Dhūrtasvāmibhāsya, Mīmāṃsāśāstramālā, Tautātitamatatilaka and Śāstradīpikā, prabhāsahitā are some of his notable works. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1982, for his contributions to literature and education. Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha honored its founder vice chancellor by naming its central library as Mahamahopadhyaya Sri Pattabhirama Sastri Library. The 8th volume of Kendriya-Saṃskṛtavidyāpīṭham anuvādagranthamālā has been republished as Mahamahopadhyaya Padmabhushana Sri P.N. Pattabhirama Sastri commemoration volume in his honor.

Chirapat Prapandvidya is a Thai archaeologist, Sanskrit scholar and an Indologist. He was the founder and the first Director of Sanskrit Studies Centre at Silpakorn University in Bangkok. He has also published over a hundred articles on Sanskrit and Indology. In the year 2022, Govt of India honoured Chirapat Prapandvidya by conferring the Padma Shri award for his contributions to literature and education.
