This is a list of commercial hot sauces. Variations on a company's base product are not necessarily common, and are not always included.

Contents

Scoville heat ratings vary depending on batch. However, many companies do not disclose numeric ratings for their products at all. "Extra hot" versions may be advertised as several times hotter than the original, without specifying the heat of the original.

Tabasco is an American brand of hot sauce made from tabasco peppers, vinegar and salt. It is produced by McIlhenny Company of Avery Island in south Louisiana, having been created over 150 years ago by Edmund McIlhenny. Although the tabasco peppers used in the sauce were initially grown only on Avery Island, they are now primarily cultivated in Central America, South America and Africa. Capsaicin and related compounds known as capsaicinoids are the substances that give chili peppers their intensity when ingested or applied topically. Chili peppers exhibit a wide range of heat and flavors. This diversity is the reason behind the availability of different types of paprika and chili powder, each offering its own distinctive taste and heat level.

Búfalo is a brand of hot sauce and other condiments produced by Herdez Group of Lomas de Chapultepec, Mexico. Búfalo sauce has been produced since 1933. The company produces Búfalo and Tampico sauces, salsas, and other condiments. In the United States, English-labeled bottles are distributed by MegaMex Foods, a joint venture between Herdez and Hormel Foods.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Siling labuyo</span> Chili pepper cultivar

Siling labuyo is a small chili pepper cultivar that developed in the Philippines after the Columbian Exchange. It belongs to the species Capsicum frutescens and is characterized by triangular fruits which grow pointing upwards. The fruits and leaves are used in traditional Philippine cuisine. The fruit is pungent, ranking at 80,000 to 100,000 heat units in the Scoville Scale.

Frank's RedHot is a hot sauce made from a variety of cayenne peppers, produced by McCormick & Company. The Original blend ranks low on the Scoville scale, with 450 SHUs, but the XTRA Hot variety measures 2,000 SHUs.

Ashley Food Company is a hot sauce manufacturer, based in Sudbury, Massachusetts. The Ashley Food Company product line, called Mad Dog Hot Sauces, contains 28 hot sauces, oils and chili powders and barbecue sauce. In the spring of 2012 Ashley Food Company wanted to be in control of the quality and quantity of the scorpion peppers and any others they use in their products, so they started growing them in Massachusetts with the help of local greenhouses and an agricultural school.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Louisiana Hot Sauce</span> Brand of hot sauce

The Original Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce is a brand of hot sauce manufactured in New Iberia, Louisiana by Summit Hill Foods. Bruce Foods was the previous owner and manufacturer of the brand and sold it to Summit Hill Foods in April 2015.

Outerbridge Peppers is a food company based in Bermuda whose products include a range of sauces and condiments. Their flagship product is Outerbridge's Original Sherry Peppers Sauce, a traditional condiment in Bermuda fish chowder. It is one of Bermuda's few exports.
