1991 Federation Cup World Group Qualifying

The Qualifying Round for the 1991 Federation Cup was held from 18 to 21 July at the Nottingham Tennis Centre in Nottingham, United Kingdom, on hard courts.

Contents

Thirty-two teams participated in the first round. Those who lost went on to play in the Consolation rounds; while those that won went on to play-off again, with the eight winners advancing to the World Group.

The 1979 Federation Cup was the 17th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at the RSHE Club Campo in Madrid, Spain, from 30 April – 6 May. The United States won their fourth consecutive title, defeating Australia in their ninth final.

The 1980 Federation Cup was the 18th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at the Rot-Weiss Tennis Club in West Berlin from 19 to 25 May. The United States won their fifth consecutive title, defeating Australia in their tenth and record eighth consecutive final. The US did not drop a single match during the tournament.

The 1983 Federation Cup was the 21st edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at the Albisguetli Tennis Club in Zürich, Switzerland from 17 to 24 July. Czechoslovakia won the title, defeating West Germany in the final, in what was the first final since 1972 that didn't involve United States or Australia.

The 1986 Federation Cup was the 24th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at I. Czech Lawn Tennis Club in Prague, Czechoslovakia, from 20 to 27 July. The United States defeated three-time defending champions Czechoslovakia in the final, giving the USA their 12th title. The finals marked Martina Navratilova's first return to Czechoslovakia since her defection to the United States in 1975.

The tournament was held at Hollyburn Country Club in Vancouver, Canada, from 26 July – 2 August. West Germany won their first title, defeating the United States in the final. This was their first victory after four previous final appearances.

The tournament was held at Flinders Park in Melbourne, Australia, from 4–11 December. Czechoslovakia defeated the Soviet Union in the final, giving Czechoslovakia their 5th title, and 4th in six years.

The 1990 Federation Cup was the 28th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. The tournament was held at the Peachtree World of Tennis in Peachtree Corners, GA, United States, from 21 to 29 July. The United States defeated the Soviet Union in the final, giving the USA their 14th and 2nd consecutive title.

The 1999 Fed Cup was the 37th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. In the finals, the United States defeated Russia at Taube Tennis Stadium in Stanford, CA, United States, on 18–19 September, giving the Americans their 16th title.

The 2000 Fed Cup was the 38th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis.

The 2003 Fed Cup was the 41st edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis.

The 2008 Fed Cup was the 46th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis.
