The 1992 British Formula Three season was the 42nd British Formula Three Championship, won by Brazilian Gil de Ferran. The season started on 22 March at Donington Park and ended on 4 October at Silverstone following sixteen races. Dutch driver Marcel Albers died following a large crash during the third round at Thruxton. 1992 was the final season of British F3 in which the champion did not drive a Dallara chassis, and the first of six titles in seven years for Paul Stewart Racing. Class B was won by British driver Paul Evans.

John Paul "Johnny" Herbert is a British former racing driver and former television pundit for Sky Sports F1. He raced in Formula One from 1989 to 2000, for seven different teams, winning three races and placing 4th in the 1995 World Drivers' Championship. He also raced sports cars, winning the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1991 driving a Mazda 787B.
Roland Walter Ratzenberger was an Austrian racing driver who raced in various categories of motorsport, including British Formula 3000, Japanese Formula 3000 and Formula One. Having had sporadic success throughout the lower formulas, Ratzenberger managed to secure an F1 seat in 1994 for the new Simtek team, at the unusually late age of 33. He was killed in a crash during qualifying for the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix just three races into his F1 career. The weekend became notorious for also seeing the death of Ayrton Senna, a three time world champion, during the race the following day.
Marc Gené i Guerrero is a Spanish professional racing driver. He is best known as a tester for Williams and Ferrari in Formula One, Minardi Formula One driver and factory driver for Peugeot's Le Mans team, with which he won the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans. His brother Jordi is also a racing driver, competing in the WTCC for SEAT. He had 36 starts in Formula One, mostly through two seasons with the Minardi team, with which he scored a sixth-place finish at the attrition-filled 1999 European Grand Prix.
The 1966 Formula One season was the 20th season of FIA Formula One motor racing. It featured the 1966 World Championship of Drivers and the 1966 International Cup for F1 Manufacturers which were contested concurrently over a nine-race series that commenced on 22 May and ended on 23 October. The season saw the "return to power" with the introduction of the '3 litre formula', doubling maximum engine capacity from 1.5 litres. Yuji Ide is a Japanese racing driver. He is the 2005 Formula Nippon runner-up and the 2010 Suzuka 1000km winner. He competed in Formula One with the Super Aguri team in 2006, but was demoted to third driver after four races and subsequently lost his FIA Super Licence.

The 1991 British Formula Three season was the 41st British Formula Three Championship, won by Brazilian Rubens Barrichello. The season started on 17 March at Silverstone and ended on 13 October at Thruxton following sixteen races. The 1991 season is often considered a 'vintage' year for the series, producing two future Formula One Grand Prix winners in the form of Barrichello and David Coulthard as well as a future champions in CART, BTCC (Rydell) and WEC (Kristensen). It was also the last title win for Ralt chassis and the West Surrey Racing team. Class B was won by Finnish driver Pekka Herva.

Paul Stewart Racing were forced to switch Burt from a Reynard to a Dallara chassis in order to stave off the challenge of Oliver Gavin, who had been using a Dallara since the fourth round. The season marked the beginning of the Italian firm's domination of the series — Dallara chassis have won every British F3 title since. Class B was won by British driver Jamie Spence.
