Maracaibo is a city and municipality in northwestern Venezuela, on the western shore of the strait that connects Lake Maracaibo to the Gulf of Venezuela. During his ten seasons with the team, he became known for his exceptional defensive and base stealing skills. A 13-time All-Star,, he made an immediate impact with the team, winning the Rookie of the Year Award in 1956 after leading the league in stolen bases and leading AL shortstops in putouts and assists; he was the first Latin American player to win the award.

The Little League World Series is an annual baseball tournament for children—typically boys—aged 10 to 12 years old, held in the Eastern United States. Originally called the National Little League Tournament, it was later renamed for the World Series in Major League Baseball. The Series was first held in 1947 and is held every August in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania; while the postal address of the organization is in Williamsport, the Series itself is played at Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Volunteer Stadium at the Little League headquarters complex in South Williamsport.

Wilson Eduardo Álvarez Fuenmayor is a Venezuelan former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a left-handed pitcher. During a thirteen-year baseball career, he pitched for the Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, San Francisco Giants, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Carlos Eduardo González, nicknamed "CarGo", is a Venezuelan former professional baseball outfielder. Over the course of his Major League Baseball (MLB) career, he played for the Oakland Athletics, Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Indians, and Chicago Cubs. A three-time All-Star, González was the National League batting champion in 2010. He has also won two Silver Slugger Awards and is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner. While mainly a right fielder throughout his career, González was the Rockies' starting left fielder from 2010-2014; in 2015 he transitioned to right field.

The Latin America Region has competed in the Little League World Series since its creation in 1958. Until 2001, the Latin America Region included Mexico and the Caribbean. In 2001 – when the Little League World Series expanded to sixteen teams – Mexico and the Caribbean were given their own regions. The region is open to all countries on the Latin American mainland, but is typically contested by the teams from Panama and Venezuela. Since the 2001 split, the region has been represented by either Venezuela or Panama at the Little League World Series, as of 2019.

Rougned Roberto Odor, nicknamed "Rougie", is a Venezuelan professional baseball second baseman who is a free agent. He previously played for the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, and San Diego Padres. Odor played for Texas’s minor league affiliates from 2011 until he was called up to the MLB team in 2014. The Rangers traded him to the Yankees in 2021 where he would be released following the season. He was later signed by the Orioles for the 2022 season.

José Antonio Alvarado is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). Alvarado previously played for the Tampa Bay Rays, having signed there as an international free agent in 2012. Alvarado made his major league debut in 2017.
