The 1956 Little League World Series was held from August 21 to August 24 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. [1] The Lions Hondo Little League of Roswell, New Mexico, defeated the Delaware Township Little League of Delaware Township, New Jersey, in the championship game of the 10th Little League World Series. [2] Delaware Township had also been runner-up in the 1955 tournament.
This was the first, and to date only, time that a team from New Mexico appeared in the championship game.

Pennsylvania Route 132 (PA 132) is a state highway in southeast Pennsylvania. The route, which is signed east–west, runs northwest to southeast through Bucks County in suburban Philadelphia from PA 611 in Warrington southeast to Interstate 95 (I-95) in Bensalem. PA 132 is a commercial route lined with shopping centers throughout much of its 15-mile (24 km) length. It is named Street Road and is five lanes wide for much of its length. The route was also designated as the Armed Forces and Veterans Memorial Highway in 2005. From west to east, PA 132 intersects PA 263 and PA 332 in Warminster; PA 232 in Southampton; PA 532 in Feasterville; and U.S. Route 1 (US 1), the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-276), PA 513, and US 13 in Bensalem. Street Road was included in William Penn's survey plans and completed by 1737. The road was paved by 1911 and received the PA 132 designation between US 611 and US 13 by 1927. The route was widened into a multilane highway and extended east from US 13 to I-95 by 1970. An interchange with the eastbound direction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike opened in 2010.
Cherry Hill High School West is a four-year comprehensive public high school, serving students in ninth grade through twelfth grades in Cherry Hill, Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as part of the Cherry Hill Public Schools. Cherry Hill West is one of three high schools in the district; the others are Cherry Hill High School East and Cherry Hill Alternative High School.

The San Hua Little League of Tainan, Taiwan defeated the Shippensburg Little League of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania in the championship game of the 44th Little League World Series. Excessive rain delays resulted in the championship game being rescheduled from August 25 to August 26, with highlights broadcast on ESPN on tape delay.

The 1947 Little League World Series took place from August 21 through August 23, when the first Little League Baseball championship tournament was played at Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Maynard Midgets of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, defeated the Lock Haven All Stars of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, 16–7 to win the championship. The event was called the National Little League Tournament, as the "World Series" naming was not adopted until 1949.
The 1953 Little League World Series was held from August 25 to August 28 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. In the championship game, Birmingham, Alabama, beat Schenectady, New York, by a score of 1–0 in the seventh edition of the tournament.
The Yardley–Wilburtha Bridge was a bridge spanning the Delaware River. A majority of the bridge was washed away by severe flooding in 1955 and was later demolished in 1961 after the completion of the nearby Scudder Falls Bridge.

A team from Norwalk, Connecticut, beat Monongahela, Pennsylvania, by a score of 4–3 in the championship game of the 6th Little League World Series. A team from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, became the first participants from outside the United States in the history of the event.

Thomas Jefferson Jordan was an American professional baseball player, a catcher who appeared in 39 major league games over three seasons with the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians (1946), and the St. Louis Browns (1948). Born in Lawton, Oklahoma, Jordan stood 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 m) tall and weighed 195 pounds (88 kg). He threw and batted right-handed.

Ángel Macías threw the first and, to date, only perfect game in an LLWS championship.

The Hamtramck National Little League of Hamtramck, Michigan, defeated the West Auburn Little League of Auburn, California, in the championship game of the 13th Little League World Series. Hamtramck became the first team from the United States to win a championship since foreign teams were allowed to participate beginning in 1957. Hamtramck became the first team from Michigan to win the LLWS; the next Michigan champion was Taylor North in the 2021 edition.
