The tournament was won by Jokerit, who beat Kölner Haie in the final.

The Kölner Haie are an ice hockey club based in Cologne, Germany, that plays in the professional Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). The team was one of the founding members of the DEL.
Uwe Gerd Krupp is a German former professional hockey defenceman and former coach of the German national ice hockey team. Widely considered one of the greatest German players of all time, he was the second German-born player to win the Stanley Cup, and the second German-born professional to play in an National Hockey League All-Star Game.
Niklas Sundblad is a Swedish professional ice hockey coach and a former Swedish professional ice hockey player.
Lance Nethery is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre and coach, and current executive. He played 41 games in the National Hockey League with the New York Rangers and Edmonton Oilers during the 1980–81 and 1981–82 seasons. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1979 to 1990, was split between the minor leagues and then in Europe, mainly in the Swiss Nationalliga A. After his playing career Nethrey became a coach and manager in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, working in those roles between 1993 and 2019.
Sean Simpson is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former professional ice hockey player. He last served as head coach of Adler Mannheim in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) in Germany.
Clayton Beddoes is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former professional ice hockey centre. He played two seasons in the National Hockey League. He last coached the Italian team HC Bolzano, and has coached the Italian national team at two World Championships.

Mark Olver is a Canadian-German professional ice hockey centre currently playing under contract to the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL. He previously played in the National Hockey League with the Colorado Avalanche. Mark is the younger brother of Darin Olver, who was his teammate in his tenure with Eisbären Berlin.
Ron Pasco is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and a former player. He is the assistant coach for Kölner Haie of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL).
The 2000 Spengler Cup was held in Davos, Switzerland from December 26 to December 31, 2000. All matches were played at HC Davos's home arena, Eisstadion Davos. The final was won 4-2 by HC Davos over Team Canada - Davos 11th title and first title since 1958
