The 54th Cannes Film Festival took place from 9 to 20 May 2001. [1] [2] Norwegian actress and director Liv Ullmann was named Jury President for hte main competition. Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti won the Palme d'Or for the drama film The Son's Room . [3] [4] [5]
The festival opened with Moulin Rouge! by Baz Luhrmann, [6] [7] and closed with Savage Souls by Raúl Ruiz. [8]
