The 2009 Coupe Internationale de Nice (English: 2009 International Cup of Nice) was the 14th edition of an annual international figure skating competition held in Nice, France. It was held between November 4 and 8, 2009. Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing on the levels of senior and junior. Unlike most other competitions, there was no compulsory dance segment in the ice dancing competition.

The World Figure Skating Championships ("Worlds") is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union. Medals are awarded in the categories of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Generally held in March, the World Championships are considered the most prestigious of the ISU Figure Skating Championships. With the exception of the Olympic title, a world title is considered to be the highest competitive achievement in figure skating.
Internationaux de France is an international, senior-level figure skating competition held as part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series. It was previously known as the Grand Prix International de Paris (1987–1993), Trophée de France, Trophée Lalique (1996–2003), and Trophée Éric Bompard (2004–2015). Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Organized by the French Federation of Ice Sports, the event is most often held in Paris but has also been hosted by four other cities – Albertville in 1991, Lyon in 1994, Bordeaux in 1995, 2014, and 2015, and Grenoble in 2017 and 2018.
Pernelle Carron is a French ice dancer. With partner Lloyd Jones, she is the 2013 Winter Universiade champion, 2010 Cup of Nice champion, three-time NRW Trophy champion, and 2010 French national champion. She won bronze at two Grand Prix events, 2011 Cup of China and 2007 Skate Canada International, and competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The International Cup of Nice is an annual international figure skating competition usually held in October or November in Nice, France. It has been held since 1995, except 2005. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing on the senior, junior, and novice levels, although some events are not held in some years.
The NRW Trophy is an annual international figure skating competition organized by the Skating Union of North Rhine-Westphalia and since 2007, it has been sanctioned by the Deutsche Eislauf Union and the International Skating Union. It is held every autumn at Westfalenhallen in Dortmund, Germany. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The competition is held in two parts. The Ice Dance Trophy is held for ice dancing levels pre-novice to senior in early November. The Figure Skating Trophy is held for singles and pairs skating levels novice to senior in late November or early December.
